Weâve been visiting this restaurant for at least 8 years. Anytime we travel past it, we have to stop! The menu is short and not varied; however, there are daily specials to spice it up. My absolute favorite are the grilled shrimp and scallops with grilled vegetables! YUM! Everything is fresh and oh so tasty! Donât expect a lot of ambience - its a very old building with eclectic decorations, much like an old warehouse inside and out. But donât be fooled by the appearance. I call it a Hole in the Wall, but live the food and the service!!

We travel to McClellanville quite a lot and decided to try a new place for lunch. We decided to dine at The Bent Rod. Upon entering the restaurant, it is very inviting and we were greeted right away. I wanted to order oysters, but they were not available, so I ordered the fried shrimp sandwich. I was disappointed that the shrimp were over cooked and had no flavor. There was very few of them on the sandwich which surprised me due to the price. I ordered the Poutine and was pleased with the taste but wondered why it kept smoking. My husband and I had never seen a dish that did that. My husband said his food was ok, but not seasoned.

This little gem looks nondescript from the outside, but the food served inside is excellent. Furnishings are plain but not the food. Our she crab soup was creamy, seasoned and full of crab. A side of sherry was given to us which added more flavor. I chose the fried clam platter with red rice and Lima beans. The clams were perfectly fried with a generous amount to eat. The red rice was flavorful with sausage, peppers, and other delights. Can't wait to order it again. The Lima beans were prepared southern style so they were full of flavor. My husband ordered crabcakes (they looked like fritters) which he thoroughly enjoyed. His macaroni and cheese was totally homemade and delicious. His cole slaw earned raves too. The owner is also the chef and he takes pride in his food. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. Locals frequently came in to pick up orders. I wish we lived closer to eat there on a regular basis.

The fried chicken was good. Nothing to rave and rave over but worth the money and just like home cooking. Mac & cheese was little dry, had plenty of cheese on top but I like mine more moist and gooey. Fried fish was Delicious. Side dishes were tasty.Cake was moist and yummy.
