We were delightfully surprised by the cleanliness and friendly people who worked at River City Diner. In addition, the lunch menu had lots of good choices. I had corned beef others had chicken salad sandwich. Both were overstuffed and delicious. We also had a side of French fries as the sandwiches come with potato salad or chips. The French fries were hot and delicious.

My wife and I stopped by for dinner. This was one of those places that you always say you should try out but just never do. Well, long story short, I wish we hadn't. I ordered crab cakes, the meal version with a baked potato and green beans. There is also an appetizer version. My wife ordered fish tacos. It took, what I thought was a long time for our dinner to arrive and when it did, what a disappointment it was. The crab cakes were burned on both sides and I mean charred black. The potato was over cooked, dried out and mealy. No butter but I did get a little container of sour cream. My wife said the fish taco was pretty good but not anything special. Despite Happy Jack's decent ratings it was a dud for me tonight. Maybe I'll go back and see if they can redeem themselves but probably won't...... too bad, I really wanted to like this place.

Met a friend for breakfast there and want to go back. Parking is fantastic, I was a bit worried when I saw where it was located, but they hav a nice size parking lot. Typical Diner Menu. Nothing amazing, but nothing terrible. It is a diner, not a fancy place. Staff were friendly, atmosphere was nice. As far as diners go...this is a good one.

Our first visit Need better signing for both the property and once inside to the dining room. Great views. Wait staff great. Appetizer(risotto balls) very good. Entrees pork shank, prime rib(rare not available),grilled salmon. No vegetarian dishes but there was a stuffed eggplant on the appetizer menu so that worked with vegetables. Desserts were just ok Overall worth a return trip.

Slattery's was founded as a working man's bar in 1934 and has been located on the east side of the city for over 80 years, just a few blocks from Fitchburg State University and the Wallace Ice Arena. For the last 30 years, chef/owner Dave Celuzza has over
went there for easter dinner with the family. other then overly crispy zuccini sticks, EVERYTHING was great from the mac n cheese for the little one to italian homemade gnocci and meatballs to surf n turf with prime rib n stuffed shrimp. waitress did a good job considering how many people were there. def. will go there again !
Stopped for breakfast with my sister who uses a wheel chair. The one Handicapped space was taken which made getting her out of the car a bit problematic. For the size of the entire lot, it doesn't seem there are enough spaces available for people with disabilities. In any case, once inside we were greeted and seated promptly and the food was good. Admittedly, we did some scrambled eggs, home fries and a breakfast sandwich, but still all was well prepared. The only other issue I have, which goes all the way back to when this was a Chinese Restaurant, is that it is loud!! Not sure what might be done to deaden the noise inside. I will be back and would love to try lunch.

Recently saw a show here and had dinner before. The small prime rib was huge, accompanied with fresh green beans, a baked potato and a popover. There is also a nice selection of drinks and their bread pudding was scrumptious. Fun evening all around.

Ordered Onion Rings, Large Chowders, Fried Sea Foods looking for something good. Placed the order with no problem ( because no one was there ) ..Ten minutes later, they called my order over a P.A. system that does not work, but I was standing right there anyway. We got the order and started to engulf on our Long Weekend treat. We first started on the Onion Rings which I hate to say looked like the bottom of the bag of Funions. They were all crumbled and broken and covered with cold oil. Oh well, lets over look the bad and go with the rest of the feast. We opened our Fried Sea Food to see over cooked, dark brown food fried in what looks to be dirty oil. Things were greasy, dark and way over cooked. Also, I'd like to mention that you do get ketchup not cocktail sauce for a Large order of Fried Shrimp. OK, Let's enjoy the chowder, NOT !! The Large chowders were refrigerator COLD !NOT EVEN ALMOST WARM....Third year in a row where we honestly wanted to give them a shot, but again it's seventy bucks in the trash. My advise is to go down the road 7 miles to Kimball's for fried seafood.

In July 2018, we visited this restaurant and had a very poor experience. After posting my review, management contacted me to invite me back and offered a $35 gift certificate. We returned last week and things were as bad or worse with the service. Once again it was five of us for lunch at noon on a Thursday. It was not especially crowded. After being seated, we were ignored for about ten minutes, until I finally got someone's attention. Our waitress offered apologies, and we gave a beverage order and asked that we receive a fifth table setting (there were only four). After a very long time, the drinks arrived but I had to ask again for the table setting. We placed our food order and, once again, had a very long wait. When the food arrived, again with apologies, my grandkids' pasta was lukewarm and my "steamed" broccoli was cold. A request for an additional beverage again took a long time. When the check arrived, I found that the waitress had given me someone else's paid check (with $25 cash included). I flagged down the waitress, who had recognized her error, and was given the correct check -- again, with many apologies. She also offered us $5 off coupons for a return visit. The waitress was wearing an apron that identified her as a "certified trainer." Sorry, clearly the management of this establishment doesn't know how to offer appropriate customer service and attention. With so many alternatives available, we won't be returning here. I'd recommend that you opt for a different spot as well.Hi, Al. We sincerely apologize that you did not receive the best service and that some items were not prepared correctly. Our general manager will be in touch via email as soon as possible.

There is a new menu that disappoints. There used to be simple foods which were very satisfying. Fancier food fancier prices. The service was great though. Not planning on going back.
