We had an early dinner at Charburger Stockade and were not very happy with the meal. Our order was for chili cheeseburgers and fries. The hostess was friendly, the eating area was fairly clean, and the food arrived quickly. There are beans and hush puppies to add to your meal, but the hush puppies were cold and had obviously been setting out a long time. The beans were so spicy hot, you couldn't taste the beans. Our chili cheeseburgers were cold and not very appetizing. We did, however, enjoy the French fries.
Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers could
I was very pleasantly surprised by the remarkable decorations inside of this water burger, located off of interstate 20. One is met just inside the door way by two life-sized statues of the Blue Brothers. The ceiling is lined with electric guitars and there is a Beatles drum set in an alcove above the counter. One wall has an collection of local high school football and Beatles memorabilia. Album covers and other Beatles posters also line that wall. The seating area has a rock and roll diner theme.Almost a second thought, the Whataburger food was very good as was the service. it is worth a visit if you are passing through Kilgore

Looked up on phone Map app and saw Cafe. Traveling and looking for breakfast, found this little gem neatly located off the edge of a traffic Circle, hence the name. Recommendation from a supremely nice and efficient waitress was the chicken fried steak which is huge. Bon appetit.

Surprisingly good barbecue. You can either buy by the pound or get sandwiches. The brisket was juicy and tasty and the two types of sausage were very good. You also need to get the cheese and bread with it. Definitely a place to stop.

I'm not from here. Just moved here actually so my opinion is totally unbaised and just about the food and experience. I've eaten at every restaurant in Kilgore and McKay's is the very clear number one in my book. Sure there are other places that serve great food, but McKay's is just special. There's plenty of room and the food is buffet style southern country cookin' that's consistently good no matter what you put on your plate. They also have a pretty darned extensive dessert bar. Considering all the food is fantastic, there's plenty of room to accommodate even during peak hours, you can get in and out quickly if needed, and the extensive dessert bar, McKay's is hand's down my favorite place to go. I might hit the other places occasionally, but McKay's is my regular spot:)

I've been trying to find something I like to eat at Chili's for a while because I like Chili's and have been going to them since the first one on Greenville Ave in Dallas.I finally found something I like, Honey-Chipotle Crispers & Waffles! The appetizer portion was great this visit. Now I hear that Chili's is going to delete 50 menu items. No doubt my fave will be cut. Bummer.........

A great casual dining place for lunch and dinner. The salads are enormous and made fresh. like the chili dog and the fresh frozen yogurt bar is amazing! For a good, quick meal...you can't go wrong.

Serving our community for over 25 years. Jackie and Vicki have built a legend at The Back Porch. The Clayton's have owned the Back Porch since 1990 but the history goes back to the 1960"s when the business was a pool hall owned by the infamous Harry Crow.
Nice big restaurant with bar, walk up counter and music events all rolled into one. I went after the lunch rush and was torn between a steak, cheesesteak, hamburger and BLT, I went with the Hamburger with fresh cut fries and they were amazing. Service was fast, non-alcoholic beverages were self-serve, it was a really good experience with really good food. This will be my stop for future stops here.

Dining here was the highlight of our visit to East Texas. This would be a superior dining experience anywhere. The sirloin my wife had was superior, as was the accompanying potato side. My salmon was as good as I have had anywhere. Also enjoyed an excellent wine. The restaurant has, at least to us, a unique was of insuring the food brought to your table is fresh: when the kitchen finishes a dish it is trapped by any member of the waitstaff and brought to the table. Our service was perfectâsufficiently attentive but not overbearing. We hope to revisit this p,ace as often as we are in the area.
