Reviews on American food in Kandy, Central Province, Sri Lanka. Kandy (Sinhalese: මහනුවර Mahanuwara, pronounced [mahanuʋərə]; Tamil: கண்டி, pronounced [ˈkaɳɖi]) is a major city in Sri Lanka located in the Central Province. It was the last capital of the ancient kings' era of Sri Lanka. The city lies in the midst of hills in the Kandy plateau, which crosses an area of tropical plantations, mainly tea. Kandy is both an administrative and religious city and is also the capital of the Central Province. Kandy is the home of The Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world. It was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1988.

Outside of town, this small restaurant is new and ready for business. It shows off with low prices and good food. We ordered the vegetarian burger with egg and rice and noodles to go. The burger was great, especially the sauce that comes with it. The rice and noodles were fine and tasty. The young gang tries to convert this place into a more hip hideout, where you can chill and enjoy good food for a low price. It still needs some work, such as a little more decorations and better music. But they try hard and do their best. The focus is on food and that is what's most important to start with. A promising place, definitely worth a visit!

We went here for the cricket. It was our first night before the masses arrived. We had very good and reasonably priced food and drink. The service was very good even though the food actually comes from the hotel upstairs. The staff were very polite and the air conditioned pub a welcome relief. So why not a 5? Well we went the following day at 8.30pm to be told the place was shut. It was actually full of others eating and drinking and so this was obvioulsy a lie. I dont think we would have been upset if they had just said it was full ( it wasnt) it was just the ' its shut' comment
OakRay Heritage Boutique are designed to reflect a warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere. Add to this, a menu you can ponder over for hours and you have everything you need to escape the pressures of daily life.
Pros:Located next to Temple of the holy Tooth. Seating on a beautiful balcony. Very nice staff. Within a nice souvenir shop Oak Ray.Cons:Food was disastrous: pasta was too soft, mushy salads. The charged 1300 Sri Lankan Rupees for veg noodles which way way beyond what you pay around.

I recommend you that you should come here around 5~6pm for sunset through the window. The stuff is very good, decor is interesting, the owner is super helpful and he made me feel special.
