We were in town for a group rally and this place was on the tour. So we get there and they take us to where they prepare the food for resturant. Food hanging around and cooking and none of us have hair nets etc. Then they take us into the cooler room where they cut the meats they sell again no coverings and we could touch any surface we wanted let along cough etc. This was not the end they catered our meals and like I said stay away. Our group will never recermend this place at all. First night was to be a fish fry and all it was was like fish sticks frozen meat fried and it was cold along with the rest of the meal. Breakfast was cold and who puts green peppers in scrambled eggs when you are serving mostly older people. The chicken they ran out the next night. There was also overhead of the serviers talking about a person from this group about how she wanted something and didn't want something. They thought it was a joke and made the comments in front of the other people in line. Run poeple run.

This is a great place for a fish fry and in Wisconsin, we take fish fry very seriously.
Most recent visit to this humble from the outside appearing restaurant was for a business Christmas Party. Of course food is at its most delicious when someone else is paying for it, but the Wayside exceeded everyone's expectations on this night! Party group included guests from ages of 12 to 70+. There was something on the menu for everyone. Drinks were consumed with enthusiasm and consensus was that they were all well made. Tried a 'Fuzzy Navel' for the first time and one was enough. Special of the night was prime rib in four sizes. Spouse and I got the "Queen" sized medium rare along with baked potato. It was served hot with carving knife. Absolutely excellent! Quantity was enough to make another meal at home later in the week. Skinny guy across table got the "King" and polished it off in one sitting (he didn't talk much, just ate). Servers were a bit overwhelmed with all the orders, some food came a bit late. We had a room to ourselves which was appreciated as the group was a bit loud and boisterous. Clientele is mostly local residents.

The staff t the Heron's Landing were very friendly and efficient; the venue is historical and a pretty setting on the Rock River. They have a fairly extensive menu and prices are a good value for the portions received. The food itself was good but nothing to truly rave about or to tempt me to run back soon. The atmosphere and friendly staff and patrons would encourage me to visit again and possibly in warmer weather when there is outdoor seating with beautiful views of the river, etc.Their homemade fries are very good and the Reuben sandwich was plentiful and very good --- as well as their cheeseburgers.

My wife and I stopped in to the Brickhaus after reading some of the reviews for a light lunch. Their menu is posted just inside the door, but fortunately, another board is right next to the order station. The interior is nice and cozy, with a variety of seating options ranging from an easy chair to booths. It was populated by a nice mix of people, from what looked like lawyers to students. I tried the Rueben made as a wrap, while my wife went for the Caesar chicken wrap. One of the best Reubens I've ever eaten, with really tender corned beef and a great tangy kraut. My only problem was it was unbelievably hot...enough so that I nearly burned my mouth. My wife said the same, but agreed that the wrap was delicious. Both sandwiches were served with kettle chips, but other options are available. Fresh brewed coffee and tea are available, as are a number of really tasty looking desserts. The place reminded me a lot of the Sweet Spot in Whitewater, with really good food at a really good price. It's worth the stop. You won't be disappointed.

When you first arrive, the building is really deceiving. It looks sort of like a run down house, but step inside, it's cozy and quaint. Very charming rustic restaurant. The food is delicious. The staff is friendly, very hospitable. I would definitely recommend reservations. We sat on the patio, which was really cute, but a little chilly in the winter. Reserve a table by the fire place, in winter.
