The Belfry occupies an early 1900s school house originally built to educate the farm children of Montgomery Center. Over 100 years later the Belfry has given this space a second life with one of the top pub's in the Northeast Kingdom. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, you immediately get the sense everyone knows each other. The food is delicious, specializing in elevated pub fare. The blacked chicken pasta's are a go-to entree, for appetizers try the potato skins, the are brilliantly crispy. As some people have mentioned the wait can get rather long as the space is not very large, plan accordingly.

The Tavern is absolutely perfect! Super charming with wood and glass windows that give you stunning views of the river creek and surrounding mountains. They have a nice combination of low and tall wooden tables that makes the Tavern super cozy and you have the feeling that you are in the countryside. Not only they have a fantastic place with plenty of parking, they also have the best food and service in the area. We loved the food and absolutely all 7 plates from my group were made to perfection! I had the lobster stuffed sole and it was the best prepared sole I ever ate! My husband and my children (who are not so easy to please) were also amazed by the food and ate all of it! My friends also loved it. Even the onion rings were perfect! We normally don't eat fried foods, but this was really light, crispy and delicious! The man who received us was super pleasant (perhaps the owner), and the service was perfect! The price is amazingly cheap for what they offer! Drinks were perfectly done and they had plenty of choices for drinks. This place is a bit outside the Jay peak Resort but totally worth the 5 min drive! Amazing! And the people who said this place was not for kids? OMG, we had a baby and 2 kids and it was really the best service ever!

The problem of this place is probably bad management. The staff is not happy and the host was not pleasant. She was annoyed that we wanted a window seat when the place was basically empty. It took forever to seat us for breakfast and the food was not good. They are not really pleasant around children and except for a small cafeteria that's the only option to eat at the stateside Jay peak hotel. They also close super early and if you want to eat dinner you have to drive somewhere else.

Who would guess to find such a treasure in remote little North Troy?! We usually dig into the scallops - so fresh and tasty. Sweet potato fries are also a staple and favourite. Paddie's special connection with fresh Maine seafood deliveries makes her place very attractive. We even know a couple who have celebrated their wedding anniversary there! Don't underestimate the cover of this gem.
I stopped into see if they were open and the hours, as when driving by frequently, I had noticed that they were open. All the on-line reviews say closed, but this is wrong. It is open all day from 7 AM to 8 PM, serving breakfast, Chinese meals, and American sandwich fare. The place is very clean, and pleasant. It is now called the Junction 101 Restaurant, (802) 744-2818 or (802) 744-2868. Between Jeffersonville, Stowe, Newport, Vt.

Alice's Table is part of the resort at Jay Peak. On Friday nights during the summer, Alice's Table offers an incredible all you can eat BBQ that includes a tram ride to the top of Jay Peak. Would love to introduce your readers to this fun experience!
We had the Sunday brunch. It was awful. Cold, rubbery scrambled eggs. Cold sausage and bacon. Cold potatoes. And when we mentioned it to the cooks, they just shrugged their shoulders and looked at us as if "what are you complaining about?" At $22 a person I expect tasty, hot food, and an apology when it's not. They didn't even TRY to remedy our complaint. Good coffee. Excellent service from our waitress. Highly disappointed.
15 years ago my wife and I took a trip to Vermont and Canada to see the fall foliage. While driving around in Northern Vermont. We came upon a cafe at a small highway junction, and decided to have lunch. I had the special that day. Roast turkey with stuffing. I then reluctantly told my wife, that "this is the best turkey dinner I have ever eaten" but it was and still is. I have for 15 years told people about that dinner but we never really knew where we were, when I ate it. Now in October 2018 after retiring we took another leaf peeping trip to New England. While driving around Northern Vermont on local 2 lane highways and just sight seeing.I came to a junction of 2 highways and looked across the intersection and couldn'tbelieve what I was seeing. It was that cafe where I had the great turkey dinner. We went inside and told the waitress our story. Having just eaten up the road. We did have pie and coffee, which was excellent. But I had to get a turkey dinner to go, to eat later for supper, and it was every bit as good as I remembered. It was as Yogi Berra said Deja Vu all over again

Food was fine. It did the trick after a day of skiing but nothing memorable. Canât usually go wrong with poutine, but it was just okay.
