We go here about once a month and our group has several favorites from the menu. The chicken fried chicken is the best I’ve ever had. The fried mushrooms and home made ranch dressing are outstanding and loved by all. The fried okra is very good. My experience with their hamburger or Johnny Reb burger was not good with the patty cooked to a dry disc. The fried shrimp are a huge hit. The chicken fried steak is quite good. Their fries are very good. The service is excellent and unsweet tea fresh and tasty. The bathrooms are kind of gross however this is the place to eat in Hearne and a favorite.

Tried to find this restaurant a year ago and gave up after an hour, but on this trip back from Dallas, I found it! Being on the Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ List had me charged up. The brisket delivered with a lot of burnt ends which had incredible flavor. I was a bit disappointed with my Loaded Baker with Turkey. Just didn't get much flavor out of the turkey and they put the sauce on the turkey which was way too sweet for my taste and it kind of ruined the overall potato. If I'm ever in the middle of nowhere again, I would stop by and get more brisket lean! Very friendly staff and it was a sunny day so I sat outside on the picnic table. Beautiful view.I’m glad you found us! I sorry our stuffed potato was a disappointment. We usually stuff our potato with chopped beef. We offer substitute meats if you desire. Perhaps, next time try chicken or even pulled pork or pork loin. Tell us to put the sauce on the side. We want you to be happy. Thank you for the compliment on the brisket!

The classic scramble was really good and flavorful...just enough jalapeños (I got mine without meat). I ask for slightly runny eggs and the were perfect... one of the folks I was with got the cinnamon roll and was unimpressed. I liked the service, very personable.

Four of us had dinner here because it is a new place in town and we liked the concept. We hoped it would be a great experience because Hearne needs a place like this, especially since city funds were used to help it get open. There was sufficient parking, all on street. We were greeted and seated immediately and our waitress was right there to take drink orders. We ordered our drinks plus water. She brought the drinks but no water, so we reminded her. The bar drinks are way over priced for the amount you get. The wine and beer were priced fairly decently. The menu had quite a bit to choose from and the server soon came to take our orders. We reminded her we still did not have our water. Our leaders were slow coming out of the kitchen and they came out one or two at a time with the last person having to wait a few more minutes. She said they were backed up, but the place was only about one third full. Still no water. Two ordered 10 oz pork chops. What came out were two thin pork chops that were over cooked and tough. Our baked potatoes and entrees were barely luke warm, but were not cold. She finally brought our water about mid way through our meal.We also ordered two, appetizers, one of which came out with the meal. Two people got salads and they came out after the entrees. Our server was not very good and everything seems disorganized. The food was not good and certainly nowhere near worth their prices. The ambiance was fine...typical sports bar. This is in an old post office and they retained a lot of that atmosphere which was good. The place was clean and was pretty loud, but that was to be expected.I doubt any of us will go back. I might try them one more time in a few months, but this place is not ready for prime time.

Traveling with our 37’ fifth wheel we have a challenge locating good places to eat with parking for our rig. This place met the challenge!Delicious food served promptly and with efficient, friendly service. Value priced also. My husband had hamburger steak with spinach and black eyed peas. I had hamburger steak with steamed broccoli and green beans. Everything was appropriately seasoned and the portions were generous. We were offered cornbread and rolls, but declined since we usually do not eat bread.
