We stopped on a Sunday at 11am. The have breakfast till 11:30am-nice! We are not from the area, but it sounded like a good place to stop for lunch. We had the chips and queso dip for appetizer. My husband had chopped steak with a pile of onions on top and a twice baked potato. I had the Parmesan crusted chicken with mashed potatoes and corn dressing. Very good! Our server was attentive and very friendly, especially for a Sunday morning.

The place is small but the people are very friendly. They call you by name and treat you like family. Their food is the best. I love the breakfast. Real fried potatoes. They even have a salad bar. There is a daily special and its always good. It's worth stopping by to give them a try. You won't regret it and will return as often as you can.

I was visiting my childhood town and looked forward to going to lunch here. Unfortunately the Spanish hotdogs and hot beef were not like I remembered. The shredded chicken was tasty! I am pretty certain the coney sauce recipe was changed from the original one!

Food is consistently good - the nicest local restaurant with a bar, very nice wine selection. In the summer, they also offer outdoor seating. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Absolutely LOVE their grilled chicken salad with horseradish dressing (and I don’t like horseradish but this dressing is great) and their tomato basil soup.... everything is good.

Took a chance, and paid off big time!! the other reviews have done it well. High quality food , creative presentation, clean, efficient, and friendly. Long term staff makes a big difference in this family operation. Best fish and chips I've had in years. Crisp fish, and fresh cut fries, and awesome tartar sauce. Oh, yes, and wife had a taco salad that was amazing. And if you are adventurous , they have many drink specials.

The Merchant House

It's all about the experience here. Family restaurant with great BBQ and unique drinks!

The Merchant House is in a building that was used by the original merchants of Greenville. The interior is nicely appointed - especially the mural in the dining room that shows the building with, apparently, the first businessmen standing proudly outside. My wife and I had wraps, waffles sweet potato fries and a couple of craft beers. Many more expansive dinners were on the menu. I think The Merchant House would offer something tasty for most folks. The price was right and the staff and service were great.

I got the triple sampler and a drink for 10.00. Great chicken salad and broccoli salad. I wish I could say staff was friendly, but they were cold and the manager or owner was yelling at one of them in front of all of us. He didn't even say thank you when he rang me up. Despite this I would return, because the food was really, really good, great selection and a good price.
