I was exploring Occidental around lunch time -- needing a place to relax, have some lunch and read my book. Howard's Cafe looked inviting -- a porch to sit, just enough energy to say "good food here." I was not disappointed. I had a salad -- enough to take half home -- and iced tea. I was encouraged to just sit as long as I wanted -- which I did. My only disappointment was that I wanted to bring my grandson back to sample their milkshakes and they were closed at 2:30.

They are famous for their incredibly good pies, but have recently added a modest lunch menu
Sadly, Mom's deli section where you could get great sandwiches and salads has closed (as of July 2018) and their shop now focuses solely on pies which was always their specialty. They still offer the best selection and quality in Western Sonoma County. Friendly service and old-time, homey atmosphere.

Went on the recommendation of a favorite winery and were not disappointed. Underwood manages to do many things well: oysters (for me), giant pork chop (for pregnant sister in law), thai chicken dish (for boyfriend who is allergic to shellfish and does not eat pork)... Upbeat, great service, unpretentious wine country feel with bocce court in back.

Nice visit here. The wings were top notch. Staff was very pleasant. I enjoyed the clam chowder. Wife had the pulled pork sandwich. We enjoyed it. Only problem was it was pretty chilly and there was no heat. Other than that, really nice.

Ended up here following good advice of local people, actually we were pretty disappointed...Nothing is wrong with service (waiters very nice and fast service) but the food was pretty...tasteless.We had fried green tomatoes as starter and it was more the fried part than the tomatoes...Then I had the fried chicken and it was just âuhmâ...nothing special... my girlfriend had the gnocchi and, again, pretty tasteless, but at least the all vegetables sauce was good.Check pretty much ok

A boutique eatery in Forestville that uses local, organic, sustainable products that Chef Jeff Young turns into really delicious food. Beer and wine are available while dining on the small garden patio or sitting at the chef's counter watching the couple
We had a late lunch at Twist, we were not disappointed. The special was steak over fried potatoes which my husband got. The Gorgonzola sauce was perfect! I ordered the chicken fried chicken off the menu. This was very tasty served over penne with chard. The sauce was superb. The owner waited on us and she was delightful. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the afternoon. We call this meal âLinnerâ. Late lunch early dinner. This restaurant closes at 4 pm due to residential restrictions.Thank you for the lovely review. I remember you talked about Linner. You sat at the corner table in the back. We're glad you liked everything. I think the gorgonzola sauce is drinkable or at least scarfable with bread. It is one of my favorites. Thanks again for visiting and dining with us.

This is a European style traditional white table cloth restaurant with innovative cuisine and impeccable service. We had been reading about it since it opened and finally had the chance to visit. The dining room in intimate with what looks like family murals; white table cloths and comfortable chairs.

Fantastic, well conceived cocktails. Classics and originals. The food selection is just a cut above. Delicate, fresh Hamachi, perfectly fried chicken and butcher nuggets, fried chock peas with perfect texture. All provided with seamless, friendly service. A very special place. I look forward to visiting again soon.
