We stayed at the Raintree Motel right next door, which we have been there many times, and were prepared to walk to the Iron Skillet Truck Stop behind the motel. The check-in person at the motel gave us a free drink coupon. First we didn't know it was open so we decided to try it. First impression sort of so-so but the waitress greeted us and served us very well. The salad bar was average looking but the items were fresh and tasty. The food was very good. And again our waitress served us with very good service. It is not a big place but pretty good. The free drink coupon covered any beers, wines, and the usual drinks but I was able to order a specialty beer also covered by the coupon.

Every table that is here has had wrong orders and/or waited for a very long time. There are only 4 tables of people. Food is ok. Waitress is hardly waiting for the whole orders before she is waking away. Won't return.

Good prices, friendly service, and easily accessed with plenty of parking. Nice selection of BBQ sauces. The pulled pork sandwich was on a hearty corn dusted roll - very tasty. The seasoned fries were okay but not to the level of the pulled pork sandwich. I tried the twice baked potato casserole - fairly bland.

We have eaten at this Steak n Shake twice now as we usually stay in Effingham on our way south every winter. Its a sit down burger joint with great burgers and crunchy thin fries and delicious shakes. Itâs an inexpensive place to eat and good food. But, as Iâm dieting, I was shocked by the calorie content of their menu items. I enjoyed my meal and made the best choices I could, but the calories in the food may prevent us from enjoying this restaurant in the future.

Stopped in Effingham to spend the night on our way home from Florida and found this AMAZING Brewery. Beer was excellent, one of the best IPA's my husband has ever had. Burger fantastic and the pretzel with beer cheese was out of this world. This will now be a planned stop every time we travel through.

We went here for dinner when staying at a nearby hotel. We were seated quickly. We were surprised that the server couldnât tell us how many wings were in the order? Maybe 8 or 12? I ordered the ribs instead and they were good. We also had a soup and salad. Very salty soup. Our server Ryan kept sitting down at the booth next to us and got into intense conversations/arguments with a friend? He said he has worked there for 5 years? Could have been better without the drama.

We happened to be in Effingham and were at Mid-America, so we decided on Cracker Barrel. The staff always seems to be pleasant and they are efficient and attentive. We tried something different on this visit. We ordered four different sides with the country vegetable plate, along with one Sunday home-style chicken entree and we ended up quite satisfied. Naturally, we spent three times as much as the meal at the country store on our way out. The staff there was also helpful.

Stayed at Americaâs Best Value Inn in Effingham and the desk clerk recommended Niemergâs Steak House for a good dinner and refreshments. We had just eaten a sandwich at the rest area a hundred miles earlier so we werenât really hungry but wanted a cool drink to wind down before bed. I wish I hadnât had the sandwich as the steaks at the restaurant looked fantastic. Instead, we went to the Brass Rail Lounge and ordered dinner salads, wings, and wine. Salads were fresh, wings delicious, and prices extremely reasonable. Got two huge chocolate chip cookies from the restaurant bakery on the way out. Our Trip stop in Effingham was a pleasant detour to our trip.

Our friends brought us here for dinner. The menu has burgers, wraps, salads, sandwiches. The sandwiches are very unique. I had an Irish burger...it was a burger topped with corned beef and cheddar cheese soup served on a cibatta roll. I also had a side of roasted brussel sprouts. My food was outstanding. My husband had a month pig...it was a burger with bbq pulled pork, ham, ...I think bacon...it was huge and he really enjoyed it. We'd definitely eat here again.
