At the end of the HEB strip mall, you walk in and order from a cashier and food is brought out if you eat in. The salad bar was not appealing, at opening items appeared wilted and dressing was streaked with another condiment. Food was okay, pizza is thin crust and a little greasy. People are very nice. Self serve drinks and silverware station. They have an outdoor area although way too hot to use in summer.

A great place where the locals go to eat and "chew the fat." Very good food with a limited salad and soup bar. Lots of fun - look at the cartoons on the wall and then look for hthe cartoonist and his subjects.
Sat at a window table. Ate an average lunch consisting of hamburgers, fries, and coleslaw. This place feels like "real Texas" instead of all the franchise eateries. Tables have advertising of supporting businesses on the their tops. Many other "greetings" hang on the walls. Casablanca ceiling fans keep the air conditioning air well stirred up. "Napkins" are help yourself paper towels on a roll, and silverware is individually wrapped in envelopes, all standing in a glass on the table. Food was okay, server was good, if a little slow, but prices were a bit high for what you got. More character than the franchises--seemed to have some local residents as patrons who knew one another and the staff. My vague recollections of a previous visit a few years ago are the food was better and the prices were quite a bit lower.

Visited Austin for a conference and decided to head out and check out the Hill country. We stopped here for lunch - itâs in an unassuming plaza off the highway, but it is truly a gem. Great beer and wine list (lots of local choices) and a surprisingly extensive whiskey menu. My husband had what he described as the âsecond best burgerâ heâs ever had in his life. I had a delicious chicken salad with fried green tomatoes. I wish we hadnât just been passing through because I wouldâve wanted to go back for more. Our waitress was lovely and had lots of suggestions and recommendations for us. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the weather.

Tillieâs is a restaurant on the grounds of a wedding/event venue (Camp Lucy) in a picturesque rural location just outside of Austin (near Dripping Springs). I treated a friend to lunch there for her birthday. The restaurant is in a reassembled 19th century Vietnamese town hall. It was actually shipped from Vietnam along with a wedding chapel located elsewhere on the property. The menu is simple, but the flavors were refreshingly innovative and delicious! We both enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. (Eg roasted brussel sprouts w/tamarind and fresh oranges, mint and cilantro! The corn biscuits with honey butter were great, too.) If you donât order one of the creative desserts, you may want to pick up ingredients for sâmores on the way out (to cook at their outdoor fire pit). We also stopped and petted the alpacas on the way out of the compound. Highly recommend for lunch, dinner or brunch. I know Iâll be returning!

This is a trendy little place with an Asian fusion kinda menu. Very nice wines served in spotless, thin glasses started the dinner off well. The duck was the only entree that appealed to me, and my friend could only come up with two items. Our waiter was uber attentive which was nice at first, then became annoying. My duck was very dry and I asked for additional sauce. There was a wait for the chef to make from scratch about a shot glass' worth of sauce. This restaurant was interesting to visit once, but I don't think I would eat here again. Just a tad too hip and trendy for my tastes.

I had the special, flounder piccata with angel hair pasta and spinach. The fish was cooked properly and the caper sauce was good. My husband had a shrimp dish. Heâs gluten and dairy free and they were kind enough to substitute spinach for cheese grits. The atmosphere was very nice. Our bill was $56 with no alcohol. So a little pricey.
