Dauphin Island is a town in Mobile County, Alabama, United States, on a barrier island of the same name (split by the Katrina Cut), at the Gulf of Mexico. It incorporated in 1988. The population was 1,238 at the 2010 census. The town is included in the Mobile metropolitan statistical area. The island (originally named "Massacre Island") was renamed for Louis XIV of France's great-grandson and heir, the dauphin, the future Louis XV of France. The name of the island is often mistaken as "Dolphin Island"; dauphin is "dolphin" in the French language.

Typical coastal seafood in an informal setting. The Po-Boy was good with plenty of shrimp. However, two things that detracted from my rating. One, it's overpriced for what you get. $16 for a Po-Boy with fries is about 30% more than what it would cost up the road in Mobile. Second, they have a policy of charging a 4% surcharge for using a credit card. This is printed in small type on the back of the menu and the waitress only informed us when she brought the check. This an unacceptable way to do business. They also charge extra for take-out. This used to be a decent place to eat lunch on the way to or from the beach. I hear it's under new ownership. Nickel and diming people is not the way to endear yourself to your customers. I'll never again set foot in this place.
I recently had the smoked brisket sandwich with the homemade mac & cheese as a side and it was all delicious!! The prices were reasonable and they offer adult beverages as well. Great looking salads (and delicious, from what I was told) and a breakfast menu that will bring me back!! Nice change of pace on the beach!

Excellent pressed sandwiches. Hot chocolate was great with homemade marshmallows, but since the marshmallows melt immediately probably not worth the trouble they go to making them. Only one person taking orders and making everything so you need to be patient. I suggest since only one person taking money and making food, she should wear gloves when making the food. Also suggest writing down the order because she got our very simple order wrong. There are a covered picnic tables. There is a bathroom. They sell beer and have a very impressive hot beverage maker. Nice views. Near the Fort and Ferry. Walk up and order at window. Brisket seems to big they most popular item so if you are coming just for that, call ahead because they were out the day we were there.

Brought the family in after busy dinner hours. Looks like a family operation and appreciated the down home atmosphere. Food options good. Good prices. Presentation needs improving for table service restaurant, but you shouldn't be looking down at the table anyways. You're on the water! Take in the view and grab a drink afterwards!

Loved this place. The menu changes daily. I love surprises. The entertainment was great. We ate outside, listen to a local band, and had a drink. We watched children dance to the music. It was relaxing. If you go to Dauphin Island, don't miss this restaurant.

Island Chevron and Grill is your one-stop shop to help you enjoy your day on beautiful Dauphin Island! We open early (4:30 am) for fresh, hot breakfast made to order. The best biscuits on the island, eggs cooked the way you want them, sausage, bacon, grit
We had come in a couple of nights earlier for snacks and were heartily invited back for supper from the deli. We just wanted something easy to grab and carry back to our lodging so we did go back last night. There wasnât much chicken left, and my friend asked how long it had been sitting under the heat light. We were assured it was fresh, and had only been out a short while. The vegetables had been emptied out of the big trays into smaller boxes. We couldnât see them, but once again, we were told everything was great.Shame on these folks. Itâs not like we hadnât already spent a LOT of money at their business. They are the closest thing to a grocery store on this tiny island. Where else would I come to shop? But that was before...That was before they served up a plate to my friend with dried out chicken legs, rice that was either undercooked or dried out to the point it crunched like pea gravel and beans so past their prime they looked and tasted more like paste.I fared better with my piece of chicken, but just barely. That bird had been under the heat lamp a loooong time. The gravy was still good, yes, finally, something! But I couldnât get a fork into those mummified biscuits. And finally, insult to injury, our bakery goods were stale. You can probably do better if you get here when the food is coming out of the kitchen. I just donât take kindly to having things so grossly misrepresented.Thank you for your business and for taking time to write a review. I apologize for not responding sooner but I must've missed the notification that there was a new review. I want to offer my most sincere apologies for the food. It should never have been served in that condition! I will address this issue with my staff and try to ensure that it NEVER happens again. I encourage all of my staff to "cook-to-order" and they have guidelines for how long cooked food can still be served and they CLEARLY didn't follow those rules.I hope that you'll give us another chance to earn your business.

Located on the water pet friendly dining on our deck fresh seafood burgers and chicken beautiful sunsets
We walked in and waited by a sign that said "wait to be seated." After maybe 5 minutes someone came to seat us. On the way she tells us it is a 15 minute wait for our order to go to the kitchen. We thought it would be ok and sat down. A lady took our drink order. After 5 minutes she hadnt returned. We noticed that no table around us had food and we decided to leave.

I enjoyed the selection of tropical drink choices while watching the sunset and with all the windows, that was easy. I had the shrimp po-boy and truly enjoyed it , but the gumbo was great! The only negative was the many many steps to enter, ensuring that only the more agile and young could go.

Pirate's is in the Historic Isle Dauphine building, with a beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico. Our building has recently been added to the National Register of Historic Places. We are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a week. Poolside dining
1st time on Dauphin Island for a family get-together, 4 generations represented..... liked the funky old country club building, great views. We had mahi mahi, blue crab, shrimp..... all good. The only person in our party that complained about the food was the granddaughter that ordered chicken tenders, said they were dry. Almost forgot, the baked beans were fantastic, too! Service was a little slow, but I'll take that over bad food any day. Would definitely go back.
