Chapin, popularly known as the capital of Lake Murray, is a small, affluent, lake town located at the northern tip of Lexington County, South Carolina bordering Newberry County, South Carolina to the south. Lake Murray separates Chapin from the rest of Lexington County. Chapin is located approximately 22 miles northwest of Columbia and many people commute there for work, however, the town is considered fringe rural by the US postal service. Chapin is known for its charm and southern hospitality and is consistently rated in the Top 10 places to live in South Carolina. Chapin was founded by Martin Chapin in 1889. The following year, 1890, the railroad was built to connect Chapin to Columbia, South Carolina and other major regions. The population of Chapin was 1,445 according to the 2010 census, however, the population of the area with a Chapin mailing address, which is all known as Chapin by local people, is 6,742. The town government is set up in the Mayor-Council form and the current Chapin mayor is David W. Knight. Chapin has four public schools in the area; the first Chapin school was built in 1924. Lake Murray is the main attraction to Chapin and provides recreational boaters with water-related entertainment.

The Daily Grind is very clean; the food is excellent; there is inside and outside seating; there is a variety of food; the coffee is excellent; the place seems very homey, not like a chain coffee shop; and most important the staff is always friendly, courteous, and welcoming.

Same place, same set up, with new owner's name. Same menu except added nachos to the appetizers and permanently added the rib eye which used to be considered a "special" even though it was always available. Servers are always good, steaks are well seasoned and well prepared. Great place for Chapin locals to enjoy a nice meal!

We have been here twice in the last two months. Only downside is the hours. They are not open every day of the week. First time we drove there and ate under the pavilion. The second time we drove the pontoon over and ate down on the patio in the shade with our dog. They were very nice to the pet...even though we brought our own water and food. They did bring down a water bucket. The seafood quesadilla are pretty good. The catfish plate is very good with a choice of sides. Service was okay. Never were asked for refills. They have a slate of entertainers throughout the season. Can be a bit loud on the ground level and patio. Don't expect to hear a conversation.

It has been years since I've eaten at Groucho's. A group of friends and I were passing through town and stopped here for lunch. I had the white moose sandwich. A few of the other ladies had the Apollo. Everything tasted delicious and the folks working were very friendly. We were also happy to learn they give a military discount. That is always very much appreciated!

Never been disappointed with this all-you-can-eat buffet! Pulled pork with mustard or vinegar sauce, fried chicken, plenty of veggies, salad bar and several desserts to choose from. All for around $10 at lunch. If you leave here hungry, it's your own fault!

My wife & I enjoyed our visit to Catch 22. The restaurant was busy & our server was good, the other server who seated us was totally bland & uninterested. The she crab soup was good & I had the black & blue salad which was quite good also. My wife had the soft shell crab which she said was delicious. We had glasses of the house Chardonnay and it was fine. We wanted a bottle of another Chardonnay but they were out of it. Overall, we enjoyed our visit & will return.

My wife & I decided to return to Higher Ground to get a burger. The restaurant is busy, but we were seated fairly quickly. The service was excellent, & Maggie Grace was a friendly efficient server. Unfortunately, my first two requests for beer on the house list was for naught, so I finally took my third choice. We had fried green tomatoes which were very good. My wife had a good salad & my cheeseburger with bacon was excellent. Weâll return, but the beer list, although complete, was lacking the actual beers. Thanks for your kind words regarding her food. I will look into the beer list issues. We do serve a lot of craft beers which are randomly available to us. Not like the domestics, craft beers are available based on if the brewery will let us have them. We could update our beer list much more often, which would help. I will look into this. Thanks
