It is one of the three principalities that succeeded the Lao kingdom of Lan Xang. As of the 2015 census, it had a population of 694,023. The capital is Pakse, but it takes its name from Champasak, the former capital of the Kingdom of Champasak.

We stopped here for coffees and food. Very surprising place: tasteful interior that could have been of a coffee shop in NYC (with some imagination...). The service was extremely friendly and the food really good, surprisingly so because there really aren't many options out here. Pizzas are excellent and Lao or Thai dishes as well. Clean toilets. Sorry for the lame pictures of my car on the parking lot and my daughter taking a picture of me.

We stopped by here on a whim as we were biking back from Vat Phou (one reason why traveling by bike is so great), and we were happy we did.This place was delicious. And cheap. And delicious.We were a bit annoyed that the only Champasak restaurants listed on TripAdvisor were the expensive restaurants that served Western-style food. That's not how we like to travel. For 20,000 kip ($2.50) we each had an wonderful and Laos lunch. My wife had noodle soup and I have sautéed chicken with basil. Both were perfect. The real kicker is that this delightful and cheap meal was served to us in a beautiful, private wooden booth overlooking the Mekong. It was a beautiful atmosphere, and the couple who own/run this place were kind and courteous. Wait until you go home to eat your french fries and pizza. Come here when you're in Champasak.

Echte Hamburger in einem eher französisch angehauchten Restaurant zu finden , ist schon bemerkenswert. Aber dass diese Hamburger auch noch so wahnsinnig gut schmecken, saftig und mit einer guten Portion knuspriger Pommes Frites, das ist schon genial. Auch der Cesar´s Salad war der Knaller, mit karamelisierten Zwiebeln neben knusprigen Hühnchenstreifen ! Empfehlenswert !

We are 2 backpackers who found this place cycling along the island of Don Det. We stayed two weeks with this lovely family, helping them around the guesthouse and the restaurant. They made us feel like home!It was such an incredible experience to live with them and embracing their lifestyle.Please go and visit them :)
