Crook's Corner is on the corner of West Franklin Street and Merritt Mill roads, where Chapel Hill meets Carrboro. It's very casual and unpretentious, yet the food and the drinks are outstanding. Crook's Corner is where you'll find the original Shrimp and
This restaurant was highly rated for its creative take on Southern cooking. With its new chef, it has lost its way. A few excellent dishes remain: the jalapeno hushpuppy with the tangy sauce and spicy macaroni. But the cornbread has lost its lightness and unique taste; the once classic shrimp ân grits has lost its depth and distinctive blend of rich flavors and the grits are soupy and not tasty, the fish was overcooked, the pork belly was a muddy mess. The only delicious stars on the menu were the jalopena hushpuppy classic appetizer and the Mount Airy souffle cake which we had with homemade vanilla ice cream. Crookâs downslide is very sad for everyone who enjoyed the outdoor patios for most of the year and who brought dozen of foreign visitors yearly to have a taste of the real South. Itâs particularly sad for those of us who ate there from the day it opened in the Bill Neal days when they New York Times food critic raved about the food. Iâm afraid it will be a good while before we return.

Weaver Street is a really good food market that comes complete with a cafe. We have enjoyed both. The cafe is a great place to grab breakfast, take a break during the day, watch the world go by, and enjoy yourself. We recommend this place highly.

This unique restaurant is at the top of the hill in downtown Chapel Hill. Heavily visited by University of North Carolina students. Overall the food is excellent and service is very good. Went there with a a large church group at lunch and everyone regardless of age thoroughly enjoyed their food. Especially good are their chicken dishes regardless of the way you decide to dine - salad, sandwich or entree. However, many people selected endless items from the menu and their was no one who didn't really enjoy their lunch even the coffee. Highly recommend - only problem is parking which can be a problem.

Private Baby Shower luncheon for 20 yesterday and very pleased. This room is light, bright, contemporary and inviting. Wyatt, our server went beyond the call of duty to make sure all aspects of our menu, event flow, meal delivery, drinks were on point. A potential last minute menu glitch? Not a problem with Wyatt......he remained calm and thoughtful throughout. Manager Sashank was superb and his staff offered great service.

Want fried chicken or a tamale or sobu noodles? Got it. The menu is varied but with a large business crowd, everyone found something to their liking. The fried chicken is more like schnitzel and was a huge hit. I had the salmon and it felt indulgent - crispy on the outside and served on a bed of creamy mashed. Oddly, my favorite part was the side dish of green beans in a garlicky soy sauce. Yum!

The ovens are turned on early. Six o'clock most days. Earlier on Sunday. Within an hour, bread is rising, apples are being sliced. Pecan pies are pulled hot from the oven and left to cool. Ice cream churns in the machine. Cups of coffee steam on the prep

Simply put, we are a brewery and restaurant built by neighbors, for neighbors. Located in the heart of Carrboro, NC next to Cat's Cradle, we offer over 10 of our craft beers which we brew on-site as well as a locally focused farm-to-bar food menu.
Stopped in for a couple of drinks before a concert. We didn't try the food, though some of the menu options sounded really good. The beer was very good with a wide variety and selection at standard brewery prices. Will definitely return if ever in the area again.Thank you so much for coming out, we're glad to have you and hope to see you again soon!
