Reviews on American food in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Home to two of America's most prestigious universities, Cambridge exudes a certain intellectual quirkiness. A mix of historical haunts, student hang-outs, alternative art and culture venues, vintage clothing shops, bookstores and ethnic restaurants, the city is, well, really cool. Although it is located just across the Charles River from Boston, Cambridge has a distinct vibe that is noticeable immediately. Start at Harvard Square, a hub of activity and mishmash of trendy stores, outdoor cafes and colorful local characters. Pick up a walking tour map at the visitors information booth in the center of the Square. The route will take you past many important landmarks including the Mount Auburn Cemetery, Tory Row and the Longfellow National Historic Site. Harvard University offers student-led tours through the illustrious buildings and monuments of its sprawling campus. Art and architecture buffs should meander around the M.I.T campus, which includes outdoor sculptures by masters such as Picasso and 20th-century buildings designed by modern greats like Eero Saarinen and I. M. Pei. Along the way, browse through bookstores, stop to watch street performers and grab a coffee at an outdoor café to take in all this captivating city has to offer.

This burger joint is an institution. It was popular in the mid 1980âs when I frequented it as a graduate student and it remains equally popular now that Iâm taking my youngest child on college visits. The food is great, the ambiance is young and collegiate, the service is efficient and the value is good. What more can you ask for in the heart of Harvard Square?

Whether itâs artisan coffee, craft beer or Executive Chef Jeff Pondâs critically acclaimed wood-fired pizza, Area Four is Kendall Squareâs hotspot for breakfast, dinner and everything in between. Drawing inspiration from its sleek, technology driven neigh
Absolutely flippin' fabulous pizza. Some of the best evs. What a perfect, wood-fired crust. And their shaved brussels sprouts and kale salad made a great foil for the rich pizzas. Bright lemon vinaigrette, toasty hazelnuts, and yummy pecorino shavings - MMMMM. I really feel that pizza needs zingy salad alongside to keep it all from feeling so hefty and this salad was perfect. If I lived near this place, I'd be hugely fat from all of the amazing food.

I stopped in for breakfast at the Kendall Square location. This restaurant has fun, vibrant decor and a lovely patio. The menu have many interesting choices at reasonable prices. I chose the yellow polka dot zucchini Benny. It was full of vegetables, delicious hollandaise and my eggs were poached perfectly. The service at The Friendly Toast was excellent! I was seated immediately, the food was quick and hot, and my server was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!

Highland Kitchen is a family-owned neighborhood restaurant and bar located "up the hill" in the heart of Somerville. HK has been delivering American comfort food, well-crafted cocktails, friendly service and a killer jukebox since 2007.
This is such a great spot. Cool, hipster vibe, great service (Victoria), and the food is always simple and delicious. We enjoyed an early family dinner on a recent Saturday. If you donât want to wait for a table- get there at 5pm when they open. Our favorites include the deviled eggs, the chicken liver toasts, the black bean burger, the shrimp and grits, and the grilled gruyere cheese sandwich with house-made tomato soup. Insider tip: there are a few parking spots behind the restaurant if you get lucky!

The menu is loaded with very interesting and exciting options. Mani mahi was very tasty, juicy and blended beautifully with the herbs and condiments. Attentive service. Place was packed but not too noisy. Very relaxing atmosphere. Small wine selection. Good dessert and cocktail options. Worth coming back and discover what new food blends the chef will come up with.

My partner and I met my nephew and his girlfriend for a long, leisurely dinner here last week. We sampled lots of small plates from all over the menu and were impressed with everything. The calamari, the cucumber salad, the Brazilian cheese bread, and salted cod beignets were particular standouts.

What a great place. Who knew there could be a fairly classic diner with everything either vegan or vegetarian? I had the Shepherd's Pie with quinoa, portabello mushrooms, and more. My wife had one of the several versions of a veggie burger, our daughter another and our son-in -law the daily blue plate, which was Swedish "meat" balls, mashed potatoes, etc. We all loved what we had.
