Returned here for lunch recently. Still a charming Bistro atmosphere in the Maine backwoods. I think they may have over diversified their menu - or maybe I selected wrong - but our food wasn't as good as we remembered. Also the server tried to take our orders without pen & pencil and forgot or confused several things....I'm sorry you had a bad experience. Please reply to me when you next enter and i will assure of your needs are to the fullest.Steve

I am always in food heaven, whenever I get to the Nook and Cranny. It is worth the 10+ hour ride from Connecticut!
We often visit Subways as they provide some good healthy options however this one is very disappointing. The young lady didn't cut the bread properly and therefore could not fit the very small portion of veggies plus slightly warm chicken inside so instead of trying to rectify the problem she just dumped everything onto the paper and rolled it up and shoved it into the bag. When we opened the paper everything just fell out so we had to pull the bread apart and make our own sandwiches. Also the veggie portions were tiny - across a footlong sandwich we had 4 pieces of tomato, 4 pieces of cucumber and 10 spinach leaves after I asked for extra. Definitely not helping with "5 a day".

This restaurant has it all: great layout, great service and top notch food! We had three different types of food; sandwich, chowder and fish and they were all well prepared.

The outdoor sign shows it as Wickachee Dining Room but it is on the Internet as Wickachee Restaurant.
We were travelling through Calais just before Christmas, so when travelling you'll pretty much eat wherever you stop and not purposely look for little hidden gems. Boy, did we luck out!!!!! It was miserable outside with a huge rainstorm that was blowing through but when we walked into this restaurant they had the woodstove burning away quietly throwing out just enough heat. The service was incredible, but the food,, the food was outstanding! My husband had the turkey pot pie wrapped in a light flaky phyllo pastry and I had the pot roast with mashed... Homecooking to the tee! Well, actually, if this is home cooking there would definitely be Weight Watchers in my future (well, more than there is now!! hahah)Thanks for an incredible meal,,, we'll be back on our way back to Canada!

I Really love this place! It's casual and laid back with a beautiful aquarium in the middle of the room. While we were looking for more seafood we stumbled on this place. There is not a great selection of restaurants in Cailas so we decided to pull in! We got the special which was $8.50 for a two ingredient calzone. Each of us got something different and each of us was very pleased! The calzones are large and delicious. We also ordered a antipasto salad. It wasn't the largest that we ever had but it was delicious too. I think it was about seven or eight dollars. The food was delicious and the service was great!

Can someone tell me if Yancyâs closes for the winter? We just returned from a shopping trip in Bangor and were looking forward to a nice meal at Yancyâs, but they were closed both times ... on the way down and back. Hopefully itâs not closed for good?

Calais, ME has a limited number of restaurants in the area. The good one's are extremely busy and that was the indication when we walked into Karen's Main Street Diner. It was very crowded and more arrived after we did. It appeared to be only one server for the entire room. Although it was a little wait, I admit that the server did an amazing job. When she took our order, she was pleasant and did not act rushed. I watched her at other tables, when delivering orders, taking order and delivering checks and her demeanor never changed. Excellent server. The café is old and tattered, but you felt like you were in old-town Maine in the center of town. The food was quite good. My brother and sister-in-law ordered breakfast. I first ordered the eggs benedict, but they were out of hollandaise sauce so opted for a hamburger. The breakfasts looked very good and cooked as ordered. My hamburger was very good and came with chips. The coffee was good, hot and fresh. Nice experience and I would definitely dine here again.
