Found a table for 2 on short notice. The service was excellent. The wine list interesting. The food was perhaps one of the best meals I have had recently in St. Louis. Creative preparations with interesting presentations and combinations of flavors. The octopus confit was awesome, the vegetarian tortellini perfect and the scallops entry delicious. Sydney Street is now my top pick in St. Louis!

Tony's, a St. Louis landmark and nationally acclaimed restaurant, has featured award-winning food, service, and ambiance for more than 40 years. Recognized year after year with the AAA Four-Diamond Award and the Forbes (formerly Mobil) Four-Star Award, am
I was introduced to Tony's in 1966-1968, when I worked for the old St. Louis Globe-Democrat. It was the top-rated restaurant in St. Louis at that time. Since then, the city has changed. Old Busch Memorial Stadium is gone. But downtown St. Louis is thriving like never before and Tony's, in our view, remains the celebrated Italian venue and St. Louis landmark that it has been since 1946. Seventeen years ago, it moved from its 800 North Broadway location to the old Brooks Brothers space in the Equitable Building at the southeast corner of South Broadway and Market Street. Located at 410 Market Street, two blocks from Busch Stadium and the Gateway Arch, Tony's is famous for its Wall of Wine, tableside preparation, spaghetti and meatballs, banana ice cream and ice cream pies. An Italian restaurant with an old-world feel, it is noted that 42 percent of its entrees are seafood dishes. Fresh fish from the Atlantic is flown in two or three times a week and Dover Sole is flown in from Europe weekly. Another dramatic change from the 1960s. One thing hasn't changed, however. The service is impeccable and the presentations and tableside preparations are one of a kind. We started with sauteed shrimp, sea scallops and Tony's salad, which consists of mixed greens, scallions, radishes, tomatoes, celery, salami and provolone cheese. My wife, adhering to our more fish/less meat diet, chose sauteed Dover Sole with lemon sauce. I was tempted by swordfish, salmon, lobster, grouper and shrimp but settled on the house's specialty, black pepper rubbed prime sirloin strip steak with green peppercorn cream. For dessert, we couldn't resist sharing bananas flambe served tableside. In St. Louis, Tony's remains the standard for fine dining.

Off the tourist track but in a smart neighbourhood, this restaurant offered a warm welcome, value for money and a cosy atmosphere (not hugely busy on our early 5pm arrival, Iâd imagine it can get very buzzy).Standout, however, was the food quality - signs of real talent and imagination from the chef.

Award-winning barbecue & Southern specialties served alongside American craft beers.
Great food, unassuming place. This place is a little off the beaten path, but well worth a short detour! The staff is great- seems like everybody does a little bit of everything. They probably aren't family but it has that kind of vibe. The food is extraordinary. I tried the pulled pork, tri-tip, and meatloaf. Great, great and great! Had cornbread in a skillet for starters, amazing. And four great sauces to choose from.Decor is fun, lots of photos of musicians. Any place that has pictures of David Bowie and Buddy Guy can't be bad, right? Honestly, just go there. You'll be glad you did!

Weâre celebrating a birthday. Itâs a dreary, rainy night and weâre met with friendly faces and warm greetings. The restaurant/bar has lots of character. Lots of hardwoods and brick to this place. Steaks are cooked to perfection, each cut is topped with its own sauce or glazing. Served with a baked potato and side salad. Topped with a nice coffee afterwards and your meal is complete. The only drawback for this night is that service was a bit slow. Possibly from our waitress having too many tables to attend. Still enjoyable.

I am SO impressed with the Broadway Oyster Bar! I did the call ahead priority seating and we were seated right when we checked in on a busy Saturday night. Awesome! We ordered the Voodoo shrimp as a starter and it was phenomenal! Our waitress Carly (I hope I didnât spell that wrong) recommended the Hurricane drink and that was spot on as well. Carly was super friendly and helpful. She found the time on a busy Saturday to get to know our table and we appreciated that. I was stuck between two main dishes and she persuaded me to get the crawfish mona dish. WOW! Carly-thank you SO much. This meal was amazing and I will dream about it back in Michigan. Iâm so glad I found this place on Yelp. 10/10 we will be back someday. Your waitress Carly is a gem! We donât know either! I do know we get a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews just like yours because I respond to every review on Trip Advisor, Google and Yelp. We want to know how our guests feel about what we do and what they like and do not like. Thank you for coming to BOB and for choosing to follow up your visit with an outstanding 5 star review. We are very pleased to know that we impressed you with everything from our Preferred Seating program, great food and drink and especially our âfriendly and helpfulâ service from Carly. We try to bring a bit of the Southern hospitality that we know so well from our time in Louisiana here to our friends in the Midwest. Both Carly and I are thrilled to know that you found us and that you feel sure you will be back someday. Since we have been in business for 41 years, there is a pretty good chance we will still be here! Thank you for your support and we will look forward to your return. John

The food was lovely, the staff were great but I took my wife there for a nice afternoon meal, after carefully checking it was suitable the day before and we didn't like our experience. As we entered there were only two other customers in the restaurant and there were plenty of spare tables. We got our food and the atmosphere was nice, with nice music playing and as our food came a man sat on the very next table, ordered food and then started to watch Star Trek Voyager on his phone. It was as loud as you like and it was extremely intrusive and it really spoiled our romantic afternoon.I mean who on earth goes into a restaurant to watch TV on their phone?I was going to jar him but a fella who thinks its acceptable to watch Star Trek while he is eating in a restaurant isnât going to think it reasonable of me to ask him to stop and then I would get all stroppy and it would spoil my night.I asked my wife if she wanted to move to another table but she was happy to leave, in fairness by this point we were stuffed and we asked for a doggy bag and took back what was left, and there was a lot.For me it was a spoiler and I think restaurant owners need to watch out for this, he was a local chap as the owner called him by name.My review is based on if I would go back, and I'm sorry, as nice as the food was, and as nice as the staff were, he spoiled our meal so I wouldn't go back!

this experience was a miss, though it's too bad because the food was delicious - we ordered the american breakfast and the grits&greens, and both received rave reviews. unfortunately, though, their service and concept are a disaster. for starters, the staff is not friendly. no one greets you as you enter, they ignored us as we tried to figure out what to do, only to see a painted wall that requests you stand in line, THEN find a table, and actually bus it yourself. what?? the cashier didn't greet us. but of course, the restau is part of the new wave flipping the order screen around so you tip them as you pay - even though they don't actually service you! ("bus yourself please!")the place was packed - because the food is so good - and there were no available seats AFTER we got food. i asked a fellow patron if we could squeeze into the shared bench, and she said she was saving it for her group of five who hadn't shown up yet. i asked if she had ordered already and she said no. i responded that we needed a place to sit because our food was coming, which of course was awkward. she swore at me (!!) and stormed away. no service staff to handle this - leave it to the patrons to duke out. another girl was taking up a whole table with her laptop on a SUNDAY, writing a college essay, talking on the phone. no staff said anything to her. but the line was OUT THE DOOR the entire time we were there! where were the staff? ignoring the patrons. as requested, we bused our own table before we left. just like at panera! at least their staff usually welcome you as you enter and order.
