Best fried fish in Brookhaven, slaw is a little chunky for my taste but good flavor, hush puppies are good, salad dressing is good, service is normally very fast, Thursday night fried rolls are great

We are local, but somehow have never thought to try this restaurant, before last night, when the very pregnant me was wanting something different. It's off the beaten path, but worth the drive. The Atmosphere inside is rustic and clean, but homey and welcoming. Our waitress was Mallory, who was excellent and never let our drinks be empty and was very understanding with the challenges that come with two toddlers eating out (my 4 year old wanted to come to the salad bar with me, she wanted a small bowl with some ham in it to share with her sister, who is almost 2. I told Mallory to add the extra salad bar to our check, no problem, and she assured me that it was fine and there was no need, that kids were welcome here!). The owner himself was doing rounds and made it clear that kids were welcome and he had many grandkids so enjoyed seeing them around, which is a welcome and pleasant surprise from other establishments who seem to sigh in exasperation when you bring kids through the doors. My husband had the 16 oz ribeye, which was huge and well cooked. I had the filet mignon, which was delicious! The salad bar was fresh and crisp, perfect in my book, nothing fancy, but fabulous. We didn't have room for dessert, but there was a large selection available. My kids shared a chicken tender plate, which was $5 and enough to feed them both and take some to go. All in all we enjoyed our meal, and we will return soon.

Visited around 5 on a Saturday afternoon, wasn't really sure they were even open. Sat at a table in the bar area and several minutes later a young lady came to our table with menus and basically stood waiting to take our order; finally had to ask her to give us a few minutes to decide. None of the entrees sounded great so we decided to just go with a couple of appetizers...then we had to wait for her to come back. Was going to have a beer with food and asked what was on draft and was told currently nothing as the bar was being updated; after husband asking for about 3 more brands which also were not available he was ready to leave (probably should have). Finally ended up with an everyday stock beer. Ordered the fried green tomatoes and onion rings. Onion rings were passable but would have been much better with a remoulade or comeback sauce but were instead served with (I assume) some sort of house dip, heavy with Worcestershire sauce that was not good. The tomatoes were very hard and were drizzled with this same sauce. Someone I think from the kitchen served our food and our waitress only came by one time to see if we needed anything else... the check please! Fifteen minutes later she still had not returned and we finally ask the bartender for the bill, which still took another ten minutes or so to check out. I could understand being slow if they were busy but including myself, spouse, waitstaff and other customers there were only about a dozen of us in the building. A definite waste of time and money; won't go back!

This is the normal Cracker Barrel and our expectations were met. The hostess and waitress were knowledgeable. The food came out quickly and was the appropriate temperatures. At our table we had country breakfast, chicken fried salad, pork chops with hash brown casserole and sweet potato, grilled chicken with house salad and carrots. The restaurant is easy to access and right off the interstate.

Amazing selection and everything taste great! The fried eggplant was worth the trip, but the home cooked vegetables are endless. They have of the best salad bars that Iâve ever seen. After your too full to eat more, you look and they have pies, cakes and self serve ice cream. Iâm glad that I donât live closer. I would weight 400 lbs.

Pork was excellent and the bbq was on the side so I could add the amount I wanted - not at all spicy. Mashed potatoes are very garlicky but good. Canât recommend the cole slaw. Tossed that. Hush puppies excellent but way too spicy for this northerner.

I was told this place a great place to eat....TA input also supported that position but when we arrived around 800p that's when the disappointment began. Not a large place but sufficient to hold a pretty good crowd with an upstairs dining floor plan. We were seated and the first thing that hits you is how loud the live music is....far too load in a smallish building. Most of us had to raise our voice constantly just to talk to the person next to you. It took about 45 minutes for our food to arrive. When I asked the server (not her fault) she indicated a wedding party of 40 just got in ahead of us. The manager came over and I told her I was greatly disappointed and she just blew me off, like she has to ask how things were but really didn't care. I'll like never go back.Thanks for your feedback, Tom. We have live music from Thursday-Saturday. If the music is too loud please let us know and we can make an adjustment at the time. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the wedding party. We hope you give us another chance soon under improved circumstances.

Passing thru and looked up top ten places to eat, found Bromas rated #1, Good choice!The smokehouse bacon burger and homemade chips were to die for as my husband said, I got the Broma Burger and was delicious as well. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly including the baked potato. Service was good and staff friendly, will be back when passing through again! Got there at just the right time ( before noon ) line out the door when we leftOh and grab a homemade cookie on ur way out YUMMM

I had heard a lot about Chism's, but never had the time to stop by and try it. I finally had a long lunch from work and went up there with my spouse. We got the lunch plate. The staff was very friendly, and helpful in ordering. We had the Fried Chicken with rice and gravy, creamed corn and it was delicious! You can tell everything is cooked fresh and even the tea! The tea tastes like at home tea rather than the sugar loaded fast food tea. The place was very clean and location very easy to find. We can't wait to go back!
