Southern comfort food and a full bar with a bourbon emphasis located in the oldest remaining house, circa 1892, on Main Street within the town's original Sixteen Squares.
Our family of three ate here on a weeknight before the university started fall session. We walked in with no reservation and we were seated immediately. We were very hungry so we chose the family style. All individuals at the table must agree to get this option or you can just order from the menu. The meats were very tasty. I enjoyed the mashed potatoes and green beans as well. Service was courteous and efficient. Would definitely return in the future.

And thatâs good because I could eat Joeâs breakfast all day long. This place can get a little crowded when the Tech students are back but this is classic diner food. Staff are super nice and attentive. Love the eggs, hashbrowns, and sausage patties plus pancakes and waffles. The coffee needs to be a bit stronger but the rest of the program works fine. Real homey welcoming feel. Looking forward to our next meal at Joeâs!

Bull & Bones is a brewpub with both an upscale dining room and a separate sports bar with a casual dining area. We have a wood-fired grill, on-site smoker, an ice rail integrated into our granite bar, 20 HDTV's, and 7 championship pool tables!
We did not eat there, so this is solely a review of drinks at the bar. We went there on a Friday night around 9:30 pm. The place was dead. There was a lot of staff milling behind the bar but the service was slow. Lighting in the place is off - glaringly harsh at the bar and dark elsewhere. The beers were below underwhelming. I had three and only the Wit was anything approaching average. This might have been acceptable 20 years ago, but with the vast choices available in great craft beer now, it means that customers like me will not be back.We are so sorry to hear about your negative experience, and we would appreciate the chance to earn back your business. If you would please email us at [email protected] we would love the opportunity to make things right. Thank you so much.

Lefty's provides SW Virginia with a taste of California inspired cuisine. Lefty's has been in operation since 2004 and moved into a new location in 2016 that includes a brewery and expanded seating.
I came with my wife to Blacksburg to help my daughter, son-in-law and their family get settled in to their new home. Leftyâs was the first restaurant we tried together. It was wonderful. Everything from lamb chops to hamburgers to steaks were excellent. The mashed potatoes were special. Even the salads were good. The service exemplified the southern hospitality of the town. Dear Robert,Thank you for coming in and paying us at Leftys a visit. We are happy that your dining experience was great and we are happy that your daughter and son-in-law moved to the area. We hope to see you again at Leftys in your next visit to Blacksburg.

We walked in. A young man was at the wait stand. TOTALLY ignored us for several minutes. Took us to a table. We sat for more than 15 minutes. One waitress walked past us 3 times, she didnât even bother to look at us. Another waitress walked up, cleared the table next to us. Didnât acknowledge us at all and walked off. After 20 minutes of being totally ignored, we left.

We were in town for the weekend. Once we found the oddly placed front door it was an awesome meal. I had the miso tuna special which was outstanding. My husband had the duck special which he loved and my daughter had the meat loaf which she thought was the beat she ever had. Service was friendly. Big selection of beer, wine and cocktails. When I am back in town I will definitely come back. Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant and for your praise of your experience. We love hearing that first time goers loved their experience! We apologize for the oddly placed entrance. The building was originally a house so we had to go off of the original structure to place our entrance. Glad you found us and can't wait to host your in the future.

This is an excellent restaurant in Blacksburg Virginia. I would consider it gourmet for this region, which is admittedly devoid of high quality food experiences. Went there for an anniversary dinner and had wine, appetizer, entree, dessert and coffee. The offerings are somewhat local, although I would not say farm to table. The menu varies with availability of the elements. Extensive wine and beer list, although there were only a handful of wines sold by the glass (~$10 per glass). Some local brews. Cheese slate appetizer had a selection of meats and cheeses, some relatively local, with flavored honey, onion jam and thin sliced crostini ($20). I had blackened salmon that was really excellent with flavorful accompaniments ($26), and my wife had North Carolina trout, also excellent ($32). Finished off with Bing Cherry bourbon crumble and a chocolate raspberry tart that were both exceptional and made in the kitchen ($8 each) and coffee. The coffee is served in an individual press brought to your table. Service was excellent and attentive. It's a small space so it can get a little noisy at times, but not annoyingly so. For big city dwellers passing through, the prices will not seem out of line. For the area of this college town, it's a bit pricey. But we loaded up on all the fixin's for our anniversary, and you don't have to go all in like we did. Still, it was worth it.

I'm quick to say that breakfast is not an overly complicated meal in most cases and reviewers often overstate how good a place is because they already love breakfast food. I fall prey to that sometimes also but in this case, I think Gillie's is very much in the very good category. We found all our meals to be tasty and fresh. I think the potatoes in particular were very good. The fruit was fresh, even for late March. I wanted oatmeal which they were out of. I've had better biscuits and the grits were pretty bland. Overall though, the menu has good options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike and it feels very much like a local place which is always a good thing.Service wasn't great. Our server told us that 2 things were not available that actually were (it was corrected) but was nice and pleasant none the less.I would go back and believe in supporting these type of local places.Park anywhere you can. The only parking is on the street or in available lots a short walk away. Seems to be packed frequently, especially at peak times.

The Cellar Restaurant and 6-Pak Beer Store is located in downtown Blacksburg Virginia directly across from Va Tech campus. We have been serving Greek and American food since 1963. Our signature dishes include homemade Meat Lasagne, Greek spaghetti, Moussa
Lunch food was quite good. Service was excellent. Upstairs indoors was a bit noisy, so we moved outside where there was a better chance to chat. Our server was accommodating. Craft beer menu is extensive. Greek chicken kabob was excellent.

Cabo serves authentic Baja Mexican Cuisine in a relaxed and casual setting. Using only the freshest ingredients, Cabo specializes in unique tacos, wraps, and burritos, as well as a diverse selection of salads and featured entrees. Come by and try a taste
I know my opinion will be unpopular, I can see how many positive reviews there are & thatâs what made us visit. My daughter is a senior at Tech & I figured we should give it a try. I cannot believe the SALTINESS of the food! It was unreal. Neither of us could finish our meal due to the saltiness. It started with the complimentary chips which actually had salt crusted on them like a churro has sugar. The salsa/pico de gallo was nice, very fresh and was not overly salty. We ordered the queso and it was not queso blanco it appeared (& tasted) like cheez wiz, also insanely salty. For our entrees my daughter had the white fish tacos with a side of beans & I ordered the carne asada burrito with avocado pasta salad. Her beans were inedible due to the saltiness, as was my burrito. I ate half and my daughter took the other half for a friend whoâll eat anything. The avocado pasta salad was very refreshing (& not salty!!). Our server was extremely polite and prompt given how busy it was, definitely no complaint there. Just flabbergasted at how our food was so inedible compared to the reviews of other patrons. If you have high blood pressure or watch your sodium intake for medical reasons, just beware. So sorry you found your food to salty. That is not something we hear often, so I will be sure to look into it. If you give us another try, please inform your server of this experience. The kitchen prepares all entrees to order and can be sure not to over season any of your food. Hope to see you again. Thanks,Gary
