Things to do in Kruje
Stopped for lunch. The vegetable soup was eggplant and zucchini, unusual but not particularly flavorful. The pizza with tuna and olives was very bland. The waiter was helpful and service reasonably fast. Also we had a table overlooking the pedestrian street so got to watch the passersby.
We had lunch at Restaurant Kalaja. It was directly across from the castle entrance/Historical Museum. We sat outside and had great views of the valley below. We both ordered salads and shared the chicken fillet and French fries. The salad was enormous, but good. Fresh potatoes were used for the fries, which was good (but they were slightly greasy). The chicken was fine. Our waiter was very attentive.
Restaurant Turizmi Kruje offers the real taste of the albanian traditional cuisine. A place in which you can taste as well the greek, italian and mediterranean cuisine. A fantastic castle view, a morning peace of the fresh air and a lovely sunset.
It is a nice place. Traditional food and a beautiful view, mid range prices so everyone can afford it.
Kruja Hospitality is an old characteristic house in the historical area, transformed into a traditional welcoming center. Located within the walls of the castle, it serves as an accommodation facility, a shop for souvenirs and a space for various cultural
local food and drinks in a fantastic setting (great panorama), everything home-made while enjoying tradtional music and dance and true albanian hospitality
"Tamli " , is a Creperie and Artisanal Ice-Cream Shop . Our moto is " Where begins everything". Tamli means milk in our local language. Every product that is used at our creperie came from our farm , that is located in a village near Kruja City.
It's a lovely place furnished in an original and nice way. They offers good quality at reasonable price and a nice serving. They also serve food and other home made sweets, as crepes! But the must is their home made ice cream with local ingredients and local milk. The new meeting point in Kruja.

Restaurant Bardhi was built from 1994,where national architecture is combined with that modern. This place where the nature has made her miracle useful for relax and comfy mind and your soul. You with find to us the best choice for family lunch and dinner.W
We were taken here for a complementary drink from our tour company, as compensation for cancelling part of our tour, and some of us decided to stay for lunch there. This turned out to be a very bad decision as the wine was like sherry and the food took ages to arrive, meaning we only had a few minutes to visit the bazaar afterwards. I donât think our tour company will be going back there in a hurry!I need to know exactly what date and what agency?

We stayed here (see my review on that) and we also ate dinner here, and loved the dinner as much as the stay. For 6 euros a person, plus a tiny bit more for beer, we had a huge, multi-course, home-made meal prepared by the brothers' mother (I forget her name), lots of traditional Albanian dishes. The setting in a lovely, shady group of terraces at the edge of the old castle wall and overlooking the gorge and mountain range, with vines and plants all over, was wonderful. We happily lingered over our meal, taking in the view while relaxing in the shade as the evening cooled and gentle breezes picked up.

While visiting Kruje, my wife and I discovered this incredible restaurant high on the mountain, up difficult cobblestones streets through a fantastic bazzaar. We were amazed at the extensive menu offerings, finally chose the national dish for my wife and roast baby goat for me. Had Kabuni and Flan for dessert and both turned out to be over the top. The Kabuni is a rice pudding with broth made from veal or mutton, sounds terrible, tastes delicious. The beer was fine and the view out of the window seat went all the way to the Adriatic, over 20 miles away. Fantastic!

We went on a family day trip to the Kruja Castle for sightseeing and a museum visit. We decided to have lunch at this place before going back to Tirana. While the view was beautiful, we were highly disappointed by the food. Prices were more than average for Albanian standards. The potatoes were not fresh and the tave dheu was the worst I've ever eaten. The bread tasted like it was from yesterday and the veal steaks we tried were very average. The salad, qofte and fogaccia were the only things worth eating here. As a cherry on the top, we were charged more at the end which we discovered by checking the items listed on the bill. Avoid at all costs if you don't want to feel scammed.Dera Elio,We are sorry for your review but any of your claims are not correct and fair. First of all, you were served with a menu where are listed everything including prices. Secondly we guarantee you that we make are supplies in daily basis in order to maintain the best quality for our clients, while regarding personal tastes, it appears that after you finished your lunch there was nothing left in any of the plates. Finally regardibg the bill, you are free to indentify us the waiter who did this but i can assure you that your bill was issued accordingly and never happened to our restorant and will never happen. Nevertheless you are always welcome and we will be at your disposal to enrich your culinary experience in Kruja. All the best

Overall,we found this hotel to be the best of the six ( outside Tirana) we visited on our tour of Albanis. It was certainly the only one with a good level of fire safety- two staircases, sprinkler system ,alarm, emergency lights. We had a front room(406) with a magnificent view, both of the castle across the valley and of he complex bazaar roofs. The balcony was of good size and the room spacious ,with an unusual amount of drawer space and even coat hooks. The aircon was good, and the window kept out sound from the minaret. The curtains, whilst not opaque, were adequate.Apart from the inevitable laminate floor, the room was entirely comfortable. Although having only a shower,it was a good bathroom, with functional basin and properly fitted shower enclosue. The food was traditional Albanian, with rapid service.Breakfast was average, but there was a toaster.
