Reviews on African food in Mwanza, Mwanza Region, Tanzania. Mwanza is a mid-sized port city on the southern eastern shores of Lake Victoria in north western Tanzania. With a population of over 800,000, it is at the moment Tanzania's second largest city, after Dar es Salaam. Mwanza is the capital of the surrounding Mwanza Region but it is splitted and actually covers two of the seven districts of the region (Ilemela to the North, and Nyamagana to the South), which are administered separately (they are themselves subdivided respectively into ten and twelve wards).

Enjoy the views of all of Mwanza and down to the Lake Victoria whilst having lunch and/or a refreshing drink. We stopped for elevenses and went the following day for a lunch. Clean and presentable. Professional staff. Not busy during the day but will get busier in the evenings. Waiting time for food is an issue but you have to wait wherever you eat in Mwanza, so be patient.
This place near the city centre has so much to offer. Milkshakes, juices, ice cream...and typical local food like chips mayai. I always enjoy going there. My all time favourite drink is the coffee milkshake. If you want to take a break from the crowded city centre itâs the perfect place to go to.
People are saying that you cant stay in Mwanza without paying a visit Villa Park Resort. A great bar, with variety of foods from fish, meat, soup etc. Its a great place especially in the evening where there is a live performance and club life in the same compound. Its located between CCM Kirumba (football ground) and Mwanza City Mall.

We stayed at Ryan's Bay for three nights while visiting a foundation. The hotel is central, clean, safe and friendly employees. The rooms are fair, with all you need. I recommend a room on the higher floor. There is a gym and nice pool too.
