Find out what African restaurants to try in Lamu Island. The main town on the island of the same name just off Kenya's northeastern coast, tranquil Lamu was founded in the 14th century, making it the country's oldest living town and the best-preserved Swahili settlement in East Africa. Lamu Museum (with its prized siwa horns) and the two-centuries-old Lamu Fort are two of the main attractions. The restored Swahili House Museum is small but quite interesting. About a 30-minute walk north of town, white sandy Shela Beach is one of the island's best.

The food was about average here and the owner was very nice. There was only one other group in the restaurant, but it delayed our meal about 1.5 hours! No blender for their juices either

It is a beautiful setting on the beach, the service was warm and friendly, the juices were delicious, the prices were good.

First indication that made us go in the first place, was that this place was packed with locals. This is always a great sign, so we went for breakfast. And kept on going every following morning for omelettes, chiapatis and juice. Good prices (better than all the nearby places) and good food, totally recommended place. You'll know it when you see it, the only one that has customers in at all times. People working there are really nice too.Only downside, about a billion flies around. But this is Lamu, it's not entirely their fault.
On the waterfront with a view. The menu is simple and not always everything is available. But what is available is tasty and well prepared. Often one of the kids is send to the market to buy, on the spot, fresh ingredients. We liked the curries and the fried calamari. Simple hug good
The view on the top roof over the village is very nice. The food is good. We were there at the statr of the season so not everything was available yet, but choices are still possible. The juices are very nice.
