You can tell a lot from the outside of a hotel. Tete Noire desperately needs re-painting and the plant troughs need to be planted out properly to give kerb appeal. While the rooms were ok, corridors are dingy, the windows need good clean and the carpets should be replaced. We realise the owners are working on this and I think once these things have been done, it will be a more welcoming place. We avoided breakfast here and chose a lively cafe instead - the bleak dining room was no attraction.

The second night the fire alarm went of 3 times. There was no fire. In the morning another alarm sounded. It continued during my breakfast. The shower door was not properly placed. It did not close properly.

Stayed here on the way to Spain on a motorcycle tour, they arranged secure parking for us but it was at a nearby hotel. Good location in the middle of town near the river. Good old fashioned hotel with plenty of character, as is the owner, well worth a visit. Plenty of choice for bars and food close by, try Le Proccopio about a 2 minute walk away, great food and value.

Booked as an overnight stop on the way back from the south west of France, this gorgeous boutique hotel was a bit of luxury after a long drive. The rooms are meticulously decorated, and are just beautiful. Lovely bed linen, comfy large beds in spacious, clean rooms. We booked the top two, and could treat it like a large apartment. Plenty of space, good WiFi. Easy stroll in to town for dinner. Easy to park at La Poste car park opposite, although we had the option of driving the car in to the owners drive. Lovely breakfast, fresh bread, croissants, jams, cake and fresh fruit. Coffee was great. No telly, but that was just fine for us. We booked the top two rooms, and could treat it like one big apartment. Great shower, or luxury bath, depending on the room you choose. Windows can be opened to let in a breeze at night.

Hôtel-Restaurant-Bar-Tabac
As we found in the three IBIS hotels we've stayed in so far.... the rooms are small and the layout is difficult for anyone of large stature as the bathroom is very small and access to it impedes the entry way. Our room had a large dead fly on the desk - Is this important at first? No. But the fly was not taken away on the second day - poor attention to detail! What needs attention more though is that the manager of the hotel seems to feel that the comfort of his clients do not matter much. On arrival it was a warm day and we had been on a bus tour for many hours and were looking to 'just relax'. On a bus tour we have to lug our own bags.... there is no elevator in this hotel. In our rooms the airconditioners were there but they were TURNED OFF (not broken). We asked the desk clerk to rectify the issue. They could not. No airconditioning that night and our sleep was poor. This affected all 50 people on our trip which means that about 28 room rentals were affected. The next morning our trip manager (because nothing was done the evening before) made a pointed request directly to the manager asking that the airconditioning be turned on. We returned at the end of the day and it was not on. Another night of less than maximal comfort. In the morning our tour manager again spoke to the manager and was given this statement, " It is not IBIS policy to turn on the air conditioning until June. This is a centrally managed decision." Not a good one! It was obviously still within his pervue to turn it on but he did not wish to comprise himself with his owners. The NEXT NIGHT: We moved onward and stayed at another IBIS hotel within 200 miles of this one..... THE AIRCONDITIONING WAS ON! If it was a corporate decision - why was this other hotel in flagrant disobedience? At dinner we ordered and were served a patty of beef. We asked that it be fully cooked. It came medium rare (common in France but that's why we asked for the extra cooking). We sent it back for re-heating and it came back still medium well - not cooked fully yet. Furthermore, the meat had no taste. We brought that complaint to the attention of the waiter as the kitchen should know that sort of thing. On paying the bill I paid the manager directly and I asked if he was aware of the failure in his food quality. He simply said that the waiter had informed him. He made no other comment or gesture about our experience - NOT EVEN a word of sympathy! NEXT: In his rebuttal to our trip manager, the hotel manager stated that two people in our group had failed to pay for a meal! We all discussed this and that complaint seemed irrational to us all. This manager does not understand that he has responsibilities toward his hotel's image.
