mind- boggling that anybody can review this place as excellent...maybe few beers can affect reviewers mind..haha
we were so disappointed with the dinner served in Jay Peak (tramside) 'Alice's place'....that after 10 minutes of driving away from the mountain we have spotted this place, and decided to fix our appetite WRONG CHOICE
Ordered food.. and waited... and waited.. and waited some more.. then finally my pizza has arrived.. ( recommended by a wait stuff as a good choice ..ha)
it must have been their specialty called "charcoal" pizza :-(
I have never been served with worse pizza ever....what a disappointment to see them serving me this burnt pizza.. yes..anybody ,I guess can burn a pizza, but to bring that pizza to a customer shows how little this establishment cares about the people who pay their bills!!!!
We were not impressed with their lamb souvlaki or chicken wrap either.
The only thing we, as a group, agreed upon to be worth of presentation was their beef patty used in served burgers.. NOT the burger plate, just the beef patty and ground beef flavor. The fries served with the burger were old, fried most probably in old oil, based on the taste...and thus left untouched on the plate... No sauteed mushrooms, no grilled peppers to decorate the burger meal plates.. no imagination
mind -boggling, how anybody can review this place as excellent... unless the beer is so good....well, one has to try really hard to spoil a beer..right..
For my review to be truthful as it can be , I admit, we were offered to order a meal covered by the establishment. ( so thanks for the extra beef patty)
Did I mention that the coffee ordered here was tasteless too? So, now I wonder, maybe they can spoil the beer too..here
Sorry, but based on what was served to us in this place, my review cannot sound any better :-(

The Black Lantern Inn has been welcoming travelers and diners since 1803. We are proud to partner with local farmers to serve the freshest meats, cheeses, and produce. We offer a dining experience where couples can enjoy a special night out with filet and a bottle of wine while nearby outdoor enthusiasts unwind with mac and cheese after a day on the slopes or in the woods.
We always enjoy going to the Black Lantern for dinner. It is one of Northern Vermont's better little restaurants. Great bed and breakfast too. Very friendly staff and a wonderful pub to meet up with the locals! Tonight's seafood bake was delicious and a great Carmel ice cream desert!

The restaurant has a lovely, warm feeling with various woods on the ceiling, floors and walls. There was a large party of 10 the night we dined here and another table of two. We chose to sit at the bar where the bartender/server, Brielle, was working full-out. We enjoyed a couple of perfectly made beverages then ordered our dinner. Hubby chose the meaty, tender Lobster BLT—a fancy Lobster roll with bacon—which he said was as good as the ones he had in Maine. I ordered the Venison bangers and mash—two venison sausages (made locally at a deer farm nearby). The venison had just the right amount of spices but the two were too much to eat. The mash was delicious! On this particular night, the owner and Brielle were training another waiter/bartender so service was a bit slow. However, we were in no hurry and enjoyed our meal and the conversations with the staff.

We went Sunday night at 4:30pm shortly after they opened. It filled up fairly fast.
I started with a spinach salad which was quite good. I had the Baked scallops and baked potato. It came with broccoli. It was cooked perfectly.
Don't come here if you're in a hurry. (We weren't). It takes some time. My brother had a hamburger and fries/onion rings. He said it was good too. The waitress was friendly and attentive. We took two apple crisp desserts home. They were tasty.

We are an authentic Texas BBQ restaurant specializing in Central Texas style low and slow. Everything from rubs, to sauces, to sides is homemade. We use only wood to fire our pits, never relying on gas assisted cookers. We all cater all events.
The Texas BBQ is located about 3 quarters of the way up the mountain on the west side of Jay Peak. It's basically a fancy food truck and a large smoker with picnic tables off to the side. I know that doesn't sound like much but it's worth the trip. The food is absolutely awesome. Today I had the brisket with a side of bacon wrapped, stuffed jalapeno peppers. Both were excellent! They serve soft drinks but if you want beer you'll have to bring your own. Presently they are only open Saturdays and Sundays.
I should also mention that the leaves were at their peak colors and the views from the BBQ today were unbelievable. They won't last long so if you are in the area this weekend I strongly recommend stopping for some great Texes BBQ with a side of beautiful Vermont foliage.

Located In Downtown Montgomery Center, Vermont A rustic oasis of friendly faces, awesome food, cozy rooms, and fun filled nights just minutes from the best skiing, hiking, and outdoor adventure Vermont has to offer. Bring your friends…bring your family…or drop by all by yourself because you’ll feel right at home. Enjoy some Pub Grub at the bar or relax with a quite dinner next to the fireplace with homemade bread, Fresh Salads, Seafood, Steak, Pasta and more. Looking for the best après skiing lounge (actually…après anything lounge) stop by The Shoe and see why we’re one of the most popular spots in northern Vermont.
We had been here a couple times before but it was recently purchased and now under new ownership. The improvement in food and atmosphere was immediately apparent. The lighting and mood were significantly better than the last time we were in. I had a smoked pork quesadilla and it was really delicious. The new owner stopped by the table and described how he was up most of the previous night smoking the pork himself. My wife had a burger and said it was perfect. The care and effort they were putting into the new menu was very evident.
The restaurant is located right at the bottom of the mountain road so it's super convenient to grab a quick bite after riding or skiing at Jay. There was a decent size game room in the back for the kids with video games and a couple pool tables.
The service was good, the price was very fair. I would recommend this restaurant to families with kids or adults just looking for a bite and a beer.

It's nice to see that this location has re-opened as The Spout. We ordered the house special pizza and it was fresh and tasty along with the garden salad. Sure hit the spot after a great day of skiing.
