We stopped in for lunch during a visit to Montevideo where we had lived 17 years ago, and decided on Valentino's. We were not disappointed as the restaurant had evolved into an interesting decor and atmosphere. The menu included standard fare and included some tasty choices not generally available at other places, such as calico soup and some really good sandwich choices. They are also well known for their homemade pies, and we couldn't leave without having some. The rhubarb custard pie was awesome. We would eat there again if in the area.

Telephone Number: (320) 269-6282

Located right on the main avenue in town. It is a great seasonal ice cream shop. Opens the first weekend in March and goes until Sept/Oct.

There is no inside seating. You order from the outside and there are some picnic tables outside and benches.
This is one of my faves from childhood. Nothing fancy, just good. They have the best hamburgers! Loose meat style and tasty.
Look for their fresh raspberry sundaes and the soft serve flavor of the day ice cream. And who can say no to chili cheese fries?!?
For any who claim this is over priced - would you rather pay a quarter less per item to get it at McDonald's? Or support a home-town business?
Note that there is no indoor seating and they are open Mar-Sept. This is THE summer treat in the area!

Located on Main Street in Downtown Montevideo, Minnesota. This is a great little local coffee shop that offers indoor and outdoor eating. They have everything from coffee, to smoothies, to burgers, to homeade breads, to homeade pastas/soups/salads, and even a local artist featured there monthly. They have outdoor music in the summer and have kids story time outdoors. Fabulous!

Telephone number is (320) 269-7106
Go in the morning and ask for Teresa. Ask her to introduce you to the town characters. Try the scones, the great fair trade coffee and take in the local art. Great place to orient yourself to the creative culture and recreational opportunities in the area.

We went for supper for my son's birthday. They enjoyed there chicken wings and fries my meal very average I have the burrito lots of food not much flavor and it was very dry. Service was average never came back to see how we were doing. Prices are high for a small town. I'm sure we will go back being there are not a lot of places to eat.

We order Dave's Dilema - very good if you like a four-meat topped pizza. We have always just ordered pizza; haven't tried out anything else on the menu. It is our go-to restaurant for pizza.

Phone number: (320) 269-9393

This is actually a drive thru coffee/eatery place. They provide any kind of coffee/tea/smoothie/blended drink you could imagine. They also do all of their food homemade from their cookies, to bars, to salads, to sandwiches, taco-in-a-bags, sloppy joes, hamburgers, and burritos.

They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.
This place always has a good cup of coffee in the morning and the best selection of hot and cold drinks for a coffee shop in the area. I have only tried the breakfast burrito, and it is good. It is a good place to stop if you on the go as they do not have any seating. Just two drive up windows. The service is always very friendly.

Not much to say. They serve breakfast. They had a buffet or order off the menu. Was average at best, nothing extraordinary by any means. According to the desk clerk at the motel, its the only place in town for breakfast unless you want to go to McDonalds.
If you've ever been to the Country Kitchen chain; same thing

We had the lunch buffet. All you can eat for $7.47, including unlimited soft drink refills. The food was pretty bland, but the price made it a great value.

We were the only people in the entire place, which also serves as a market. The waitress took our order relatively quickly, but then disappeared. After about ten minutes, we asked our waitress, who was working on paperwork at the market side (which was also empty), if we could have our water. She acted annoyed that we would interrupt her, but brought our water (eventually). About five minutes later, she brought out watery salsa and chips. About five minutes later (about twenty minutes after arriving), we got our blanca queso that tasted as though it was frozen and microwaved. My brother ordered beef enchiladas and could barely chew through the tough and fatty meat. My mother and I also ordered enchiladas and made it through about a quarter of the meal before we quit because the enchiladas were both (paradoxically) bland and unappetizing. All of us had watery refried beans and dry and tasteless rice. When we asked for the bill, the waitress pointed at the market and left. We looked for her about five minutes later, but she was nowhere to be found. So we asked someone else for the check, and he rudely gestured toward the market; he clearly was annoyed with us and treated us as though we were stupid for asking. We unequivocally recommend that everyone steer clear of this restaurant. This is hands down one of the worst restaurants we have been to--ever.
