Discover Restaurants offering the best American food in Deer Lodge, Montana, United States. Deer Lodge is a city in and the county seat of Powell County, Montana, United States. The population was 3,111 at the 2010 census. The city is perhaps best known as the home of the Montana State Prison, a major local employer. The Montana State Hospital in Warm Springs, and former state tuberculosis sanitarium in nearby Galen are the result of the power the western part of the state held over Montana at statehood due to the copper and mineral wealth in that area. Deer Lodge was also once an important railroad town, serving as a division headquarters for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad ("the Milwaukee Road") before the railroad's local abandonment in 1980.

The log cabin lodge is located off Highway 12 about 45 miles west of Lolo, Montana. Itâs open year round, and has a beer and wine license. Weâve been here several times, and the restaurant never disappoints. They have both complete dinners (salmon, ribeye, etc.) as well as a good selection of sandwiches and hamburgers. Dessert is excellent.
Jill prepared our order and brought it over to the Elk Ridge Brewery next door. The food was piping hot on delivery. I ordered the stuffed pickles and they were excellent and a little decadent! Rob had a french dip sandwich and salsa and chips and he said it was very good. The bun was one of those crumbly kind that was hard to dip, though, so he poured the au jus on his sandwich. Mostly, Jill is very friendly. In a moment, you feel like you've known her for years.
When stopping for a lunch break in Deer Lodge it was recommend we try this small family bakery cafe and it didn't disappoint. The pasties are home made on the premises and are very tasty and very popular but their Donuts are to die for- light & fluffy, melt in the mouth and a good range to choose from. This is not a flash cafe by any means and it has a standard meal menu but the service is great and the food reasonably priced and it is nice to support a family business and its called the Boomerang Cafe for a reason - customers keep going back.

We are a family restaurant. We serve home style meals. Burgers, Chicken fry's, salads meat loaf just a few items I have mention plus, breakfast is served all day long. Senior and kids menus too. Come in and see us. Great food, fun and friendly staff. You
Terrible service. Didn't see Maggie smile even once. Asked if the hadhbrowns were gluten free and was told she had no idea but they were basically potatoes so shouldn't they be but she couldn't say. I told her processed hadhbrowns often have wheat added and generally you just need to ask the cook to check. She wasn't about to do that. So I ordered a double side of bacon. I am looking at menu and see how many pieces is in an order. Can't have toast nor hadhbrowns and so order double. She asked if I wanted 4 or 8. A regular order is 4, if that's all I wanted, I would not have ordered double. I often stop for a double side of bacon to go. It's normally quite good but today the flavor was off and there's a wierd after taste even 15 minutes later. Staff could use some basic instruction on food alergies, even if just to tell the customer that they will gladly ask the cook. Shortage of smiles today among all the waitresses. We are very sorry to hear you were not happy with your visit!! Yes i do agree that the servers need to work on smiling a little bit more. As for food allergies, there are a lot of people with allergies and for us to try and keep up with all of that I feel is a bit much. We serve over 5000 people a month, I have taken the time to go look at some items for people that have come in with allergies, it can be very time consuming when we are very busy. We have a very large menu so to try and memorize what is in everything is extremely difficult. We are also sorry to hear that the bacon was not up to par, some times that happens when the bacon is under or over smoked. We do apologize for being a disappointment and we hope to see you again very soon. Hope you have a wonderful day!! Sincerely The 4-B'S Crew
This is the best place to eat lunch in Deer Lodge. I know you are questioning hospital food, but their food is fresh and they have a great selection of delicious food. They have an actual chef who oversees the café. The food is really good and they have a menu online to check out what they have to offer. Their hours are 7 AM to 4 PM.

Our server, though busy with lots of other diners, made us feel like we were her only customers. Drinks served in about 3 minutes, salads arrived cold in about 2 minutes. Entrees delivered 20 minutes after we arrived. The food was hot, attractive and excellently cooked. I'll return when I'm in Deer lodge again.

My husband got a Ruben and I got a turkey avocado. Really large. I had to take half of mine home. One of the best sandwiches Iâve had and one of the best prices. Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere.
