I have been traveling to Colombia for the past 30 years and for the past 4 years living in Medellin. I have traveled and explored just about every area, every city and even more numerous small pueblos in Colombia than I can count. I have the time, the resources, the passion and the experience to understand reasonable expectations when it comes to Colombian hotels, hostels, restaurants, bars, activities, things to do and see and tours. I am pleased to provide this review of the Mongui Plaza Hotel which I stayed at last week for 2 nights and 3 days. My visit to Mongui last week satisfied my wish of traveling and exploring this area of Boyaca for about a decade now and I now can understand the allure of this small village. The hotel itself is typical of a hotel in a smaller pueblo that is off the beaten track. The service is good, the location is superb as it sits in the main plaza, the breakfast is sufficient and a good way to start the day, the rooms are clean and probably had the best hot shower that I have ever enjoyed in a hotel located in a small pueblo. The room has a radiant type heater located in the ceiling which provided needed warmth as it does tend to get very cool at night. I appreciate the free and very secure parking for my car in the hotels adjacent lot. As I started this road trip from Medellin and after Bogota continued here to Mongui I always appreciate when a hotel has parking for a car available. There is a little bar serving alcohol located right next door and so my travel partner (a paisa from Medellin) and myself got warmed up by some good wine the night we arrived. The setting of the hotel nestled in the plaza could not be more magical. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel and do recommend that others consider this hotel for your visit. Strong 4 stars review gladly given.

Reviewed By chinak_7On a 12 days trip to Colômbia, south to north, Been here with 2 girlfriends mainly to visit The paracetamo de oceta. And the staff was amazing, only 1 guy, super friendly helpful professional. We were very impress. The room and The bathroom Always super clean. The breakfast amazing. They even drive us to the bus station. Thank you very much for the experience you provide us. I feel very greatfull for being in mongi and to meet the amazing colombian people.

Located at the entrance of Monguí, not too far from the main plaza, the Hospedaje Bella Vista Mongui is located across a soccer field with a beautiful view of the Boyacá Mountains. We stay four nights in the apartment with a private bathroom, four comfortable beds, and the sounds of the Calicanto River. Eugenia, was very attentive during our stay. When we booked our stay in Bella Vista Hospedaje, she told us that they were waiting for us with “cariño” (love), and she meant it. As soon as we arrived, she offered us coffee and aromaticas (a delicious Colombian fruity tea) made from the fresh herbs and fruit form her garden. Breakfast and dinner were available at a great value, and the food she prepared was fresh and delicious. She was always ready to give us information and recommendations about Monguí and the surrounding area. Additionally, the free wifi was strong and constant. We strongly recommend staying at Hospedaje Bella Vista Mongui.

Small hostel, great hospitality
Reviewed By Hei1993I stayed in the hostel to go hiking in Monguí. It's very tiny, but the owner was super nice and helped me with finding a guide for the hikes, we could ask everything and we played tejo with together with all other guests. The kitchen and facilities are simple, but everything is clean and the atmosphere welcoming. Would stay there again!

Nice room & hosts, but cold showers
Reviewed By jamielotteWe’ve stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed the room. Big enough bed with lots of blankets :) Great view! Also enough closet space. Only setback was that we’d booked a room with private bathroom and there turned out to be no warm water in ours, only luke-warm water in a shared bathroom across the hall. Mongui is pretty cold, so we’d have liked a truly warm shower, preferably in our own room. Other than that, we had a great stay. The hosts were nice and helpful.
