Pleasantly surprised for Sunday brunch. The appearance wasn't encouraging (hole in the wall sorta place) we thoroughly enjoyed the food. The place has one L shaped counter with about 15 stools around it facing the stove. The whole place was run by Julie, who hand chops all the potatoes and veggies fresh. The service was great. The coffee and decent and the bill was super cheap. For the days I want a quick, tastey, local breakfast I will certainly be back.

Good service, good food. Nice waitstaff. Was next to our hotel, which did not have a continental breakfast so this was a great match.

Great place for large portion home cooking dishes. Just like eating at Mom's. Had the lunch special with fried pork chops! They were so good. The breakfast dishes looked delicious also. Hope I'm back in the area again. Would like to eat here again.

Last time we were in St. Louis, we happened to be driving along St. Charles Rock Road, and I couldn't believe that I spotted a Chuck-a-Burger. My mom used to take my sister and me to one of these on old US 66 in Crestwood 55 years ago after we'd visit the dentist or the now defunct shopping center-mall.We had one of our granddaughters traveling with us, and luckily we hadn't yet eaten supper, so we pulled in and found they still have curb-service though not like it used to be at the Chuck-a-Burger where we used to eat. I had to have my old favorite, the pizzaburger, and we also tried a chicken-fried-steak sandwich and a coney island (no onions, please) along with some shoestring fries and onion rings. I don't remember pineapple shakes being on the menu when I was a kid, but I ordered one of those. My wife got a chocolate malt, and granddaughter an oreo shake. The food was decent, and we had a great time eating in the car; well, at least I did. I even bought a t-shirt.I had no idea any Chuck-a-Burgers were left, but the waitress told me that this one is going strong and really packs in the crowds on summer weekends, especially when they sponsor hotrod and custom car shows.

Gateway Grill has quickly become one of my family's favorites. Clean, comfortable, great food, affordable prices, quick service. We had breakfast on a weekday morning. Other diners included several local police officers, couples, and a few singles. The only drawback is the miniscule parking area in front, but there are several parking spaces behind the building, and since it's small, the walk isn't far at all. This is not far from the airport, so if you want a great affordable breakfast instead of the usual awful overpriced food in most hotels, it's worth the five minute drive. :-)

Just a simple no frills diner serving up god food at prices that are budget friendly. I enjoyed a perfectly cooked breakfast with probably the best corn beef hash I have ever devoured. Service was actually a little slow however the quality and quantity of food made this irrelevant.
