We have tried Sakae sushi on more than one occasion and were thrilled every time. We had the Cowboy roll and the Godzilla roll and both were amazing. The Godzilla is flash fried which offers a great crispy crunch.
I was looking for a new restaurant to try and opted for Kome tonight. The three stars are for the friendly and attentive service and the clean/relaxed atmosphere. Those were the positive attributes. The sushi for me was so lacking that I can only liken it to a cruise ship buffet. We ordered several nigiri pieces: salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. The salmon was the best piece of sushi I tried at this location, while the yellowtail was topped with a small piece of jalapeño that completely overpowered the delicate fish and the remaining nigiri pieces. We were then served a few rolls (Sweetheart, Sarasa, and TYS, etc.). All pieces of fish were so thin that it was tremendously disappointing. The slices were also very thin without an increase in diameter, further lowering the value. The final straw was the amount of rich, mayonnaise -based sauces drowning each piece - three sauces on one roll. It was simply too much, and this is coming from a person who loves generous helpings of sauces and dressings. I too will make the claim that I am extremely picky, even demanding, when it comes to the quality of my sushi. Perhaps it was my years spent in Seattle and the amazing grade of fresh fish and talented chefs, but I won't be returning to find out of Kome has improved in the future. Sorry!
I wrote to tripadvisor to add Zara Sushi to this site because I was incredibly impressed. Previously Drunken Fish was my favorite sushi in KC followed by Mr Le's because both of those restaurants take the time to have fun with their rolls and come up with unique specials. Zara Sushi is the same way. I love sushi and the fish here was so well prepared and the quality was fantastic. The menu offered combinations I had not seen before and prices were very fair. Best part: no wait or rowdy crowds like a Drunken Fish. You can have a GREAT meal here in a low-key atmosphere. Worth the drive from the city. Best sushi in KC hands down.

Iâve been their several times. The 1st time my meal was good, itâs been downhill there after. I order twice food to go. The 1st time the shrimp was old & had a distinct fishy taste, the second time I decided to give them another chanceand ordered a chicken dish. The chicken was mushy & didnât taste like chicken. Both times I could only eat enough to taste. I will not go back...

My wife and I ate here recently. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. 'Just OK' was our experience. The sushi wasn't sushi grade..that was the difference. It also seemed like the salmon that was packed in the philly roll was cooked -- had a hard time figuring it out. The salads and appetizers weren't great, either. Restaurant was clean and staff was prompt and friendly. Appetizers, sushi and drinks cost $54. Truth in lending: I'm a serious sushi fan and have high expectations..
