Great food and cold beer and whiskey. Best burgers, brisket and pulled pork around!
We made a random stop for lunch here during our Route 66 adventure! The bar staff and locals here were super friendly, such a welcoming atmosphere, we even signed the wall! The food was delicious (particularly the loaded burger) and it was just the driving break we needed.
The menu included hot dogs, chili dogs and Frito pies. Drinks, candy bars, chips, cookies also available. Very quick and cheap $. Very minimal menu. Only had 6" dogs. No toasting of buns. My nephew, 11 years, commented how clean the bathroom was. Parking in rear. There is a very steep slope to get into the building for handicap assessibilty (no stairs).

According to the sign outside the building they are voted best restaurant or dinner or something in the area however my food was cold was not cooked properly didn't taste very good only ate about half of it because I couldn't handle eating the rest I would refer you to Granny Shaffers if you want good food
Walmarts premade sandwiches are better. Very little meat or cheese on a LOT of bread. 2 very thin slices tomatoe, the same with all. Just not nice.

Woody's is a pretty basic place with a pretty simple menu. They smoke meat and do it well. The meat is tasty and the sides are good. They offer three barbecue sauces, which only differ in spiciness. Unless you have a very sensitive plate, go for the hot--it's not that spicy. If you like bread with your Q, just ask for it and they'll toss some in. Lots of casual country-ish space.

Food costs money. Utilities, building, furnishings, uniforms. The one thing that's free that very few places take advantage of is GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. Really? I shouldn't have tell the clerk behind the counter (Eric) to say thank you. It's really getting old, spending money in places that pay employees to take it, then not be thanked. It's pretty simple- TWO WORDS-thank you. Teach it.

We had heard great things from our friends about this place to eat and so we went. The service was good, but when we went to pay the bill, we had been charged for every extra thing we'd asked for, without being told it would be extra. For example, we ordered a nacho appetizer. Our waitress asked if we wanted beef or chicken. I asked if we could have a little of each. It was $2 extra, she didn't mention that. When our nachos arrived, it looked like there was no pico de gallo on them, like the menu said there would be, I asked if we could get some pico for the nachos. She brought us 2 bowls of it, and charged us $1. We ordered Gyros and asked for an extra tsadsiki sauce, it was extra as well. The food was good, but didn't like being charged extra without being told.

I am in the bank travel business. I take senior citizens on bus tours. I took a group to the George Washington Carver Monument Park in Diamond, MO on May 16th, but first stopped for lunch at Granny Shaffer's restaurant in Joplin. A great experience for my group from start to finish. My group entered the restaurant through the back door and was created by owner Mike Wiggins. Our banquet room was to the left of this entrance. The room was big enough to hold the food buffet line as well as several round tables to accommodate my group. It was nice to have round tables and not the long tables that many other restaurants use, because my group wasn't jammed together. The food was delicious! The chicken fried chicken and fried catfish were the stars of the hot buffet. We had homemade pie for dessert with the restaurant's delicious coffee. Mike and his staff were always checking the buffet and with my group. The restrooms were right across from our banquet room. My group was so impressed with the food that several of them told me they would go back to Granny Shaffer's on their own when they are in Joplin. I would definitely take another bus group back to this restaurant and would highly recommend other bus groups to go here when they are in the Joplin area.

So many different and unique items to choose from on the menus. I absolutely love the peanut butter burger. Another favorite of mine is the heavenly burger. The buns on this burger are literally donuts. They also have a huge selection of local and import beers.Thank you so much for your review!
