Traveling through Hattiesburg and found this restaurant on Trip Advisor. Easy off from the Interstate in a small shopping center with plenty of parking. Warm and inviting atmosphere inside and a great variety of classic Italian dishes on the menu. Warm bread and dipping oil are served when you are seated. We had the veal Marsala, penne vodka and eggplant parmigiana. All were perfectly prepared are served by a friendly and very efficient waiter. A very nice selection of beer and wine are available. The Sangiovese was very good. Prices are competitive and noise level was very low considering the number of diners.

I'm loving this place the more I visit! The food is always delicious! Whether it be the salad bar, soup, or an entree like lasagna or the meatball appetizer....every item so far has been quality, fresh, and yummy! The restaurant is very clean! Service is friendly and helpful - but not overly bothersome or interruptive (a major pet peeve of mine). And another positive....it's calm and somewhat quiet in the restaurant - even when its packed with people. The acoustics are great! You're able to converse and hear each other without a screaming match that leaves you full of anxiety and frustration. I've noticed many people of business lunches here. Perfect place! I highly recommend this place! I'll be back as soon as I can!

My first visit to this relatively new restaurant fell a bit short of expectations. My pre-visit examination of the extensive menu choices made me optimistic that Iâd find something really tasty to order. I selected my first choice, Italian Sausage with Spaghetti. My second choice, pizza, is unavailable on Fridayâs and Saturdays. On the positive side, my group of seven seemed to enjoy their dinners (several in our group were repeat customers). The parking lot contained large number of vehicles by 4:45 PM, and on the inside, people were lined up for seating (A good sign). We had a reserved table, and my group was seated immediately. Restaurant is moderately priced and is conveniently located near I-59/U.S 49 exit and the University area.Less positive was the meal and beverage service. Somewhat disappointed with my entrée selection. Tomato sauce was disappointing, sausage just OK. I did not even try to order a dinner salad as I had planned. (I can tell a lot about a new restaurant by the quality of the salad, so, hopefully, I can try it on a second visit). My overall assessment of Marioâs is that it is an average place that I plan to try again. However, Iâm not overly confident that visit number two would quite be what Iâm looking for either. Marioâs reminds me of the Italian restaurants near my old university campus. Lots of OK food for moderate price, but not exactly gourmet dining. Service was adequate for serving a group, but not up to snuff had I been with a dinner date. Oddly, I even had inordinate difficulty in getting a beer delivered to the table in a timely way. So, for this trip I have nothing particular to recommend in way of menu items. Hope to on a subsequent visit. I also plan to avoid a Friday or Saturday night and would plan to arrive at a less busy time.
