Traveling through North Mississippi, you sometimes search for good Asian food. Thai Siam is a good find in Starkville.Started with Tom Kar soup with coconut milk and chicken. It was very good. 8/10Main entree of Chicken Pad Thai was sweeter than the usual version I normally experience. Sorry not to taste much tamarind flavor, a necessity to authentic Pad Thai.. The chicken was all white meat but seemed pretty dry. 6/10.Service was good. Ambiance was average.

My wife and I ate lunch at Umi with our son and grandson this afternoon. My wife and I ordered the Hibachi with vegetables, our grandson had a kid's version with chicken, and our son had the Hibachi with steak. My wife and I had hot tea to drink, our son and grandson had soft drinks. As happens at this restaurant, we all had way more food than we could eat and got three to-go boxes to bring it all home. The food tasted great, and the cook put on a good show although no one could catch his flipped rice. Great service. Our total came to $56 with tip. Not bad for the amount of food.

At lunch there were lots of choices. The entire time we were eating there were at least 2 people tending to the buffet. They were either restocking or wiping up spills. Food was hot. Sushi bar had a number of different offerings. Floors clean. Eight different ice cream choices. We would return.

I asked for Teriyaki Chicken, a side of veggies, and a Chicken Egg Roll. They now serve on 5 inch diameter paper plates. I got one plate of the chicken, which was cold, and one plate of veggies, not very full, which was at best lukewarm. The egg roll was good. They were out of diet Pepsi. I noticed when I got back from lunch that I was overcharged for the "plate" which is two entrees and a side. TWO plates of mixed veggies were shown (as the two entrees?) and the chicken, egg roll, and non-existent soda.$9.42 for that meal? You have to be kidding.
