I almost never eat "fast food" and rarely eat at chain places. I have been to Hernando about 6 times in the last year and one day had a late lunch ate at Captain D's. I was pleasantly surprised. It was very clean and the staff was great. They offer healthy seections as well. My last visit I had fish with cole slaw and broccoli and it was consistently good. This is one of the best "fast food" places I have tried.

I have been to Catfish Country 3 times now, my sister loves it. While the food is always nice and hot, I find the catfish a bit too "corn mealy" for me. It is all quite tasty but nothing extraordinary. Last time I ordered the twice baked potatoes (based on other reviews) and the turnip greens as my two sides. The greens were a little sweet and the potatoes weren't what I would think of as twice baked. They look like shredded hashbrowns that had some sauce and some cheese put on top and put in an au gratin dish to reheat.

Driving around Hernando, Mississippi looking for a good place to eat, we decided to visit the seafood restaurant near I-55/I-69 Interstate on Highway 51. Good choice! My wifey and I ordered the sampler and a side of green fried tomatoes with a cup of seafood gumbo. All the food was fantastic my favorite was the sausage bodin and her favorite was the fried green tomatoes. We plan to visit again soon to try the jambalaya and other items. Very friendly staff and trivia night as well. Enjoy!!
