Find out what Bar restaurants to try in McGregor. McGregor is a city in Aitkin County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 391 at the 2010 census.
Stopped in and had a few beverages off the snowmobile trail. Easy to get to off Big Sandy lake. Ate a pizza. tasted great. Nice owner.
If you're looking for something tasty, head over to Prairie River Retreat and order the portobello fries and steak bites appetizers. The portobello fries are always deep-fried to perfection. But oh, the steak bites... Sliced onions, chunks of mushrooms and perfectly done steak. These babies are tender and juicy, with a touch of blue cheese and seasoning, They are delicious.Ribs were good, and moist. Cheese curds and shrimp basket perfectly adequate.Skip the salad bar, unless you're Minnesotan, then it's right up your alley. Lettuce, croutons and dressing, a shredded cheese. No jello. That pretty much covers it.Decent beer selection, by that I mean beyond Grain Belt. Also have Julian hard cider.

We were surprised to find out Mark's Bar served food. We stop at the gas station next to Mark's Bar every time we go to McGregor but never knew the bar also served food. The menu is fairly extensive and the food is great. Down-home atmosphere and our server was wonderfully funny. Very good Reuben and French Dip sandwiches. The wings are HUGE and a meal by themselves. One of our party had the broasted chicken and it smelled great. He said it was very good. I'll be ordering that next time.

Chef Trent is a gem to find in the middle of nowhere in northern Minnesota. Located on Horseshoe Lake, a short drive from McGregor, MN, and the more common Big Sandy Lake, the Horseshoe Lake Inn combines "greasy spoon" style bar food with a welcoming atmosphere, German specialties (the spaetzel is spectacular!) and unique fusion food. Friday and Saturday night always have a special and Prime Rib (three sizes: Prince, Queen and King cut) other nights have other themes. I would highly recommend it if you happen to be in the area.Trent also tends to have great BBQs with roast pork on the holidays during the summer.

Good place to eat. Right next to the country meadows inn. Little spendy for a small town restaurant but the food is very good.

Juzt North of McGregor, MN on Big Sandy Lake! Zerving up homemade pizzaz, frezh Mexican dizhez & cold drinkz until 1 AM every night!
Nice restaurant, very clean and well-kept. The menu, although heavily Mexican, has lots of good fare for all who come. The view from the deck is beautiful overlooking the river connecting the two Lakes. Would recommend this for all families for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is a nice stop on a very Scenic Northern Minnesota highway.

We weren't staying at the resort but saw they had good reviews and stopped for lunch on the way to Savanah Portage. I had the Cuban sandwich and it was one of the best I've had; they also have Castle Danger beer so it was a match made in heaven. The service was very good and the view from the deck is relaxing.
