So today I finally broke down and went and tried Val's Hamburgers--wow! The burger was terrific. I ordered the double cheeseburger because I remembered somebody said that one Patty was kind of small--good advice. I was able to choose any topping I wanted and I added bacon as well. I remember that one person asked how big the large fries were. I accidentally pressed it when I ordered it on an iPad it was not able to delete the large. I thought what the heck, and decided to just go for it. Holy crap!! They put your burger and a small fry into the bag and then dumped two or three more scoops of fries on the top. The fries are amazing but wow! You order on an iPad and can pay with a card right there and just wait for your food to be ready. I believe there were five iPads and the service was very fast. I will definitely be going back to Val's again!

This is the offspring of the legendary Cold Spring Bakery, where all the lake-goers and cabin-goers of Paynesville and Richmond's chain of lakes head for their weekend bakery goods. This is the bakery's attempt to catch some of the business in St. Cloud. It's St. Cloud's gain, as there are so few bakeries in town. You'll find everything you've come to love at the Cold Spring Bakery, and a few surprises. They have great breads and buns, cookies, bars, and donuts and rolls of all sorts - apple and blueberry pockets, the to-die-for "Dreams," which are decadent little chocolate cakes outfitted with specialty creams. You'll find maple frosted persians, Swedish Dream cookies (their take on Pecan Sandies), and a unique and delicious raspberry/lemon long john that has, you guessed it, lemon in one end and raspberry filling on the other. It's awesome. They truly have something for everyone. You can order cakes here. They also have a limited lunch menu - sandwiches and the like that you can order to take-out, or eat right there. The prices tend to be a bit higher than bakery items at Cashwise, located right next door, but they know that there aren't a lot of places offering what they do, so you pay up if you want the goodies. Bring the entire family here, and you'll all go away with a different treat to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Actually, I think this place has the best breakfast in St. Cloud. Always fresh and well cooked. Omelettes are enormous and I love that I can choose between toast and pancakes. Prices are a little steep, but then again you get a lot for your money. A little out of the way from the main streets but worth the search.
The pretzels are very good but the service was not good. There was no one there and we had to wait for anyone to even notice we where there. When they final helped us it was like we where bothering them.
