Stumbled on this place while walking downtown Brainerd. Super cool interior, reminds you of a "CHEERS" type bar. Service was exceptional and the soup was FABULOUS. Burger and sandwich were also ordered and were TASTY. Will certainly go back to this gem of a find!

The Emptynesters and one of the fledglings tried Sage on Laurel yesterday as a result of seeing a short article and an ad in the local paper's 'restaurants in the lakes area' publication. The draw was the delicious looking brisket sliders - but we kept in mind that this was picture food, not necessarily 'as served'.We had a late lunch, but the food and the beer selection was as good as the picture. I didn't expect to taste the soup, but Mrs. Emptynesters got the housemade chicken wild rice and offered me a sample. Sage on Laurel's chicken wild rice broth is the best I've ever had - wonderful creamy, slightly herbed (sage perhaps), lightly cheesy(?) soup that had an incredible mouthfeel. The fledging had the french onion soup and enjoyed it.I was a little concerned at first because the beer selection was primarily local brews. My concern was misplaced. I had a Starry-eyed porter and the fledgling had a Fenceline IPA - both delicious and smooth. I'd actually rate them worthy of a local German brewery or a Surly. Our server was excellent and could provide great info on all the menu choices. The food matched the pictures! Delicious and attractive. I had the brisket sliders, with an accommodation as the earlier crowds had eaten all the house-baked pretzel slider buns. Wonderful smoked brisket with a beer cheese sauce. Mrs. Emptynesters had the brisket Reuben - nice marbled rye with flavorful shredded brisket. The hand-cut fries and brisket bean sides were very enjoyable. The decor is arty and the staff welcoming. We'll be going back, especially because the stuffed Bison meatloaf is only served after 4:00 and I can't wait to try it.

Horseradish pickle Bloody Mary with chaser $8!! Yum!! I have their daily special usually, great! Today I finally tried one of their YG fresh burgers..., I could smell the fresh beef/ meat.... delicious! Medium, cheddar jack cheese and boom-boom sauce - perfectly cooked, quick, and so moist and tasty! I saw a couple pizzas come out too, looked good too!! Service is always great and relaxed here too! I will be back! Cheers!!

We were looking around the Baxter area for walleye (sandwich or basket) on Tuesday afternoon. A lot of places closed because it's not yet the weekend. One hostess was ready to seat us, but they had no walleye on the menu. She was obviously unhappy that we decided not to stay. We arrived at Baxter's... Walleye on the menu - basket with fries, in a sandwich, or on a salad! The waitress, Lindsey, was kind and patient and so willing to tolerate our many questions and customization of the offerings. The food came quickly - hot and delicious. The french fries were sprinkled with grated cheese & chives and I loved it. We were not the only patrons, but it was the middle of the afternoon and the restaurant was not crowded. We left completely satisfied! And would return. Lindsey assured us that they have walleye every day. The menu is on-line and easy to access.
Modern, clean, well maintained but not in the same category of a classic resort like Lutzen. Large rooms great for a family 'water park' outing.

Fifteen of us stopped after a dance program. They did a great job to get us seated fast. They were very busy, but did a great job to serve us fast as we had small kids with us that were very ready to eat. Food was hot and all tasted good. Price is about mid range as far as things go. We will be back soon.

Stopped in for dinner after a rainy day of inactivity. We were seated right away, but not long after we arrived, the rush hit. We were lucky to have ordered already. Burgers and cheese curds were good. Service started out good, but they were unprepared for the amount of people that came in after us. We sat for 20 minutes or more just to get our check while lots of people were eyeing up our table wishing we would leave.

$4.00 Bloody all day, (Sunday). Try it with tequila, (Maria), brings out more flavor. The 10.99 Burgers are $1.00 less than the competitor down the street. If you choose to build your own burger, you might find you'll save some cash on the same menu items.Great selection on home brew beer! Awesome cheese curds!Always great service!

We come here on and off but after this last visit I'm not sure we'll be going back. We had a table of 7 and our waitress was terrible. When the last of the group arrived she asked the adults what they wanted to drink but totally missed the 9 year old kid. She kept one half of the table refilled on drinks because it was next to the kitchen but forgot about the other end of the table. Now here is why we are not sure that we will ever go back. She dropped off the bill & after she picked up the bill, POOF We never saw her again. We sat there at visited each other because we had family from out of town. Not one time in this hour and half did she check to make sure we need any refills or if we needed anything. This has happened to us PLENTY of times at Black Bear & that's why we don't go there anymore. My husband was even nice enough to give her a 20% tip which she really didn't earn. Other wait staff cleared our table as they walked by & not our waitress. The service was terrible but the food was GREAT!Dear Brenda ,We apologize for your experience at Grizzlyâs Wood-fired Grill & Steaks.
