Carpe Diem is an ecological farm and guesthouse with a large swimming pool, located alongside a crystalline river and a perfect starting point for making interesting activities. Carpe Diem believes it is possible to get to know the real Colombian countryside at affordable prices and without lowering accommodation quality. Unforgettable headlines: waterfalls and natural swimming holes in the river near the house; swimming pool in the garden surrounded by terraces, ideal to sunbath; presence of nature reserves, coffee & cacao farms; pre-Colombian village; day and multi-day hikes; horseback riding; dozens of tropical fruits; stunning views of the surrounding mountains and coastline; camp sites, hammocks, moderate and luxury cabanas; healthy and more refined meals and drinks; production of coffee & honey; only 50min from Tayrona. Carpe Diem appears to be different to many other sites on the Caribbean Coast: an off the beaten track paradise, 100% contact with nature. You will not hear the noise of cars, motos or loud music. What you hear is the flow of the river and the sounds of birds and wildlife…what you feel is a sense of being completely at ease. In this setting, Carpe Diem tries to provide a top quality service. How 2 get here: MAKE LIFE EASY AND USE OUR DOOR TO DOOR SERVICE (50 min) from most hostels in Santa Marta and Taganga for a fee. Airport shuttle by Carpe Diem (90/tr). Free WIFI available!
The option of 3 pools is amazing at a location like this. The sense of peace and quiet and relaxation is priceless! The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The food was only ok. We had a king bed "ecohut" that was very roomy, with a good fan that kept us comfortable at night. I had specifically wanted to stay here because of all the activities I had read were available, but the one I most wanted to do, bird-watching, was not. It sounded as if the guide was in Minca and would not be there on the day I had available. Ah well, I walked along the road early in the morning and saw and heard many birds on my own. They keep the grounds and pools clean, as well as cleaning rooms daily.

We had an absolutely amazing stay, the property is perched on a mountain with outstanding views, you can see all the way to the sea and we were lucky enough to witness some beautiful sunsets. What gives this place the edge is the incredibly hospitable staff. They made such a fuss of us, made sure we had everything we needed and were especially helpful (thank you to Kelly) and accommodating with our 6 month old daughter, helping clean/sterilise bottles etc and giving her lots of attention and cuddles. The food was exceptional, and there was plenty of it, we were cooked something different every day and it was so tasty. We went on two tours which were lovely and Pilar made sure that we had everything we needed and were enjoying ourselves. We would recommend this place to anyone who wants a peaceful setting away from the hustle and bustle and who is looking for accommodation with a family feel and personal touch. We were devastated to leave but we will be back one day !

Mundo Nuevo is an organic farm & hostel in which the primary objective is to achieve and advocate sustainability in terms of food, water, economics and energy consumption. We work to protect the unique territory of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta from further deforestation and to preserve - and where needed recuperate - its natural ecosystems. We aim to provide an alternative form of living for our residents and guests by being a human settlement that provides people with reliable work and clients with tourism services whilst having an overall positive impact on the ecosystem. Our guests are invited to sleep in either private or shared rooms, a wood cabin, or traditional indigenous Wiwa rooms. Your day can be spent hiking the trails through the Sierra Nevada where we will guide you through the farm and its facilities, followed by an introduction to our home gardens and “Awindua,” an indigenous village build on the bordering ridge. During our tours, we will educate you on the fundamentals of permaculture, sustainability principles, and provide information on the Sierra Nevada and its indigenous cultures. Guests are also welcome to take part in the cultivation of our gardens, in addition to enjoying homegrown vegetarian meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Furthermore, Mundo Nuevo facilitates many educational retreats designed to help us understand how we can continue to move toward a more sustainable future. We invite you to visit us and be part of our vision; perhaps lending a hand in achieving our dreams, if you so desire. Our staff here at Mundo Nuevo awaits you, and is eager to share more of our story and philosophy with you.
Astonishing place with amazing food in the middle of nature and without any music!!! Loved it. Only complain is about some very badly educate European teenages shouting in the dorm at night. I guess the team in charge of the place have kicked them out the day I left.

- Super nice place with very nice pool, I liked everything in it, THOUGH, it costed me about 70€ for one night - a price of 4starts hotel in Colombia 9 bedroom dorm costed me about 19€ 1 towel, 1 dinner, 1 beer, 1 mojito, 1 breakfast, 1 lunch + 5€ hiking cost me about 50€ That's damn expensive. However, you cannot bring your food as no place to cook and nearest place to eat is around 40 mins walk. Even snacks are Scandinavian prices. Although most likely you will not find locals as many cannot afford this, the atmosphere was nice and basically full of Europeans and Americans.

HOSTAL Y GLAMPING; CONFORT EN MEDIO DE LA NATURALEZA. una experiencia única, al lado del rio Minca y en las estribaciones de la sierra nevada
The location is lovely and the deluxe rooms very comfortable. The pool is a reasonable side and a lovely location next to the river. There are a ton of insects as to be expected, especially at night. The reception staff were lovely! Bar staff friendly too but rather disinterested. Got My food wrong three times in a row, to the point I just didn’t eat it. Overall though, a nice place in minca around 15 minutes from the centre.

Beware! The hostel cancelled our Booking.com reservation (due to overbooking) on the day we were supposed to arrive. This left us stranded with no place to stay in Minca. I recommend not risking our fate and booking something else.

The Good and Bad: What an extraordinary idea, to be camped in the middle of nature in these wonderfully comfortable domes! Kudos to the owners for creating this place, and for the warm welcome we got on our arrival. The food was excellent, the domes and bathrooms were clean and comfortable, the beds and bedding were wonderful, and the views spectacular. We so enjoyed being awakened each morning by the singing of the birds! They had a great system set up where we ordered our meals using WhatsApp on our phones, and they would text us when the food was ready and to come to the dining room. However, there are caveats. (1) The rocky paths from the domes to the main dining hall can be challenging, and if you’re older or have mobility issues, you might reconsider this adventure. A fall on these rocks could seriously hurt someone. (2) Although the dining staff were helpful, they lacked polish and efficiency. This could be remedied with some attention and training. (3) But my biggest complaint - and it really dampened the whole nature experience – was the noise. The first day, people in one of the other domes 70 m away played music at a level that everyone could hear. It didn’t fit at all with the surrounding nature. I don’t know why these people chose to come HERE, they certainly didn’t care about nature. I asked more than once for the staff to talk to them but the music continued. For two of the three nights we were there, we could heard amplified music from a concert in the town below, well into the wee hours of the morning. Also the music in the dining hall was too loud so that it was a challenge to talk comfortably at our table. When they DID turn it down and switched to soft, classical jazz, the louder radio from the kitchen behind the bar could be heard, so now we were listening to two kinds of music together! So where’s the nature? How is this relaxing? The music in the dining room was controlled by staff and they played whatever THEY wanted to hear and at a volume THEY wanted. It would be easy for the owners to implement a policy that the music in the dining hall can only be played up to a certain level, no matter who was controlling it. And why do we need to hear ANY music from the kitchen (let alone a second, different music)? I think a radio/music policy for all clients would be good too, so that only earbuds or headphones could be used. This way, others aren’t enslaved to their music. I would really like to see this place succeed, and they all seemed like good people. They’ve put a lot of effort into building it, but the priorities have to be sorted. People come here for nature, peace and quiet. The staff and owners need to keep that a priority. If the noise issues were fixed (save for the amplified music from town which is beyond their control), we would definitely return. But only then.

We checked into Finca after falling unwell from another hostel and this hostel was the perfect, tranquil, private room we needed to recover. Simon was very kind and helpful with regarding information about the town and medication to take. The hostel is situated next to the river and provided a beautiful backdrop. A stray cat underneath the guest house had just given birth to kittens, so happily fed them and enjoyed doing so. The hostel is great for couples or solo travellers looking for some rest-bite and beautiful setting. The room was comfortable and spacious, with lovely terrace. Kitchen was also well equipt. I would return again!

There are amazing hostels in Minca and this is one of them. All the stuff make you feel at home, the food and drinks are delicious, you can find the local beer and cocktails. A bonus is that you can access a waterfall after a fun walk, the day I went I had it all for myself and my friends. There a lot of spots to take beautiful pictures and the sunset is visible from the hostel. Just loved it
