Located in the quaint village of Middleburg and inspired by four centuries of Virginia Hunt Country tradition, the Red Fox embodies the Piedmont’s cultural heritage. Established in 1728, our four story fieldstone Inn and Tavern boasts hand-hewn ceiling beams, heart pine floors and paneling, working fireplaces, and walls adorned with sporting art. Join us in the heart of Virginia’s famed Hunt and Wine Country to enjoy a hearty meal in our tavern followed by a relaxing evening in one of our cozy guest rooms.
Went for lunch, like we have done many times in the past, but we found it not to be open for lunch. This place is very historic and I am sure that the dinners are exceptional. Why they are closed for lunch escapes me.

Had a great ham and cheese sandwich with a root beer. Lots of choices and a nice selection of local drinks as well as standard ones. The service was very quick and the place was really clean. They have outdoor seating as well. It beats the high prices at the Salamander resort and only a 15 minute walk from the resort.

As an american ex-pat living in Europe, I occasionally visit this restaurant while visiting my mother in Mburg. You could categorize me as a real foodie and wine lover, as I always try to seek out the finer gastronomic treats in any part of the world. The wine list at the Goodstone has always been impressive (in my opinion one of the finest in Virginia and has won a Wine Spectator award the last two years) but now the food has been taken to a new level of culinary excellence. The young chef (I believe his name is Eric) in his early 30s is extremely talented and every dish of the 4 course menu was cooked to perfection. The presentation was beautiful and matched the beautiful flavors and colors carefully displayed in the dishes, and the ingredients were absolutely top notch (he tries to source the ingredients locally). I was very pleasantly surprised about the vast improvement over the past year and am much looking forward to our next visit at the Goodstone restaurant!

You might miss this place unless you notice the sign, as the entrance is one stair down from the street level. Hidden away in this small basement is a neat little coffee shop that can serve you a brew just the way you want it. Pastries are available as well.
There is a total of four seats available, so this is not for large groups, unless you want your java to go.

Very surprised about some of the not so nice comments about the staff. We found them to be exceptional and accommodating.
And, if you do not like Hershey ice cream, well than you have a problem my picky reviewer colleagues.
Our shakes, and malts were among the best we ever had. Staff was very concerned that we were happy with the malt, and we were. The place is small, and can fill up quickly. But we thought they did a superb job handling the crowd. Happy to return, and recommend without reservation.

Cute place on Main Street in Middleburg...I was craving a southern style biscuit with gravy, their biscuit was delicious! Included fried chicken as well. Delicious and homemade choices, both decadent Southern food and also light healthy options. Highly recommend! Prices also very reasonable.

We stopped for lunch, and were pleasantly surprised by our meal at Trotters Perk. The food is all organic, locally sourced, and delicious. My friend had the Madison sandwich and a salad. I had the gorilla cheese sandwich, which was a delicious grilled cheese with two cheeses. It also came with a salad. The salad was leafy greens with feta cheese and a nice somewhat sweet dressing. It was lovely. We finished with ice cream that was excellent. A nice touch was the cheese starter which was better than pimento cheese with pita pieces. Yum!

Take a culinary carriage ride through Virginia's piedmont region with Harrimans at Salamander Resort & Spa. Harrimans features a local bounty of bold, fresh and flavorful dishes sourced with the highest quality ingredients all while celebrating the rich resources and history of Virginia's most fertile region. Whether you are hosting a private chef's dinner in our Cooking Studio, enjoying a lively meal with friends in the dining room, indulging in Sunday Brunch, taking a pre-dinner stroll through the Culinary Garden or relaxing with an after dinner cordial by our fire pit, at Harrimans, it always feels like Saturday night.

HOURS

Breakfast
Mon — Sat
6:30am — 11am

Dinner
Wed — Sun
5pm — 10pm
(closed Mon & Tues)

Sunday Brunch
Sundays
9am - 1pm
I dined at Harriman's earlier this month with my family to celebrate my daughter's 40th birthday. It was a very nice evening. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Having said that however, one should be prepared for a VERY pricy bill at the end of the evening. The only reason I've assigning a 4 star rating is the price point for this restaurant. I have dined at other "first class" restaurants in the Northern Virginia area, and this restaurant meets or exceeds all of these restaurants in quality and service. However one can eat at any of these other fine dining restaurants for about 2/3's the price of Harriman's. We provided the cake for the birthday celebration after dinner, and I must say that a $3.00 a person cutting fee (there were six of us) was a bit disappointing. For the price one pays for an entrée, one would think cutting and serving a personal cake might be complimentary. My wife and I agree that although we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, we will reserve our future family celebrations for The Capital Grille, or Ruth's Chris in Tysons Corner or Crystal City.

Located within Salamander Resort and Spa and open to the public. Small plates of Piedmont-inspired cuisine are paired to the selection of both featured Virginia wines and international selections, then served throughout the day and evening. Whether you enjoy wine by the glass or as a tasting flight as you converse with the visiting winemakers, you will leave our Gold Cup Wine Bar with a much better understanding of Virginia and Middleburg wine country history and why it has earned its place among best wine regions in the US.
The food is good it is casual dining with burgers and sandwiches. Patio only serves limited menu. Went there multiple times and had service problems each time. The food takes a while and the waiters are always busy, and accuracy with orders is also a problem. Might go there again but it only gets 3 stars due to poor service.
