Stopped in for a quick lunch and was pleased with the excellent quality of the food. The service was a little lacking; our server rarely checked-in and seemed more interested in chatting with her co-workers. Still, would come back because the food was so good!

TGI Fridays

In Manhattan in 1965, there was no place where people could go out to meet friends and make new ones in an environment that was at once both relaxed and yet exciting. Then, Alan Stillman opened Fridays as a way, he said, "to meet Pan Am stewardesses." Sud

I am bummed I have to leave a negative review as we dined in at this restaurant on two separate occasions thinking maybe we just were there on an "off day" the first time. My boyfriend and I were there approximately at 3:00pm on a Saturday. It was not busy at all based upon my observation. The hostess was terrible--she didn't acknowledge us standing there for over 5 minutes. I finally took the initiative and asked if we needed to seat ourselves at which point she said "ummm, no. Where would you like to sit?"We sat for over 20 minutes before we were asked what we wanted for beverages. We ordered a beer and a Long Island to start. Our server was doing the best he could (and I wish I could remember his name); however, the food wasn't the greatest (and we also noticed a price increase since the last menu we ordered off of and the server acknowledged we were in fact right). We were overall disappointed. We ended up nearly being late for a 6:00pm movie that we went to the mall for because service was this incredibly slow. I would dine elsewhere (even fast food) before I visited this establishment again. It did appear that those who were sitting at the bar for just drinks were getting their service promptly. I do have to give them props on their cheap Long Islands (and other specialty drinks) but they do have a 3 drink limit on those and when you wait for 3 hours to be able to cash out.....well, you get cut off apparently. HA!This establishment is probably good for a quick drink or two before a movie or before/after shopping but poor for dining in food service.

CHICAGO PUB KARAOKE NIGHTThis is the second time we have visited the Chicago Pub for their Thursday Karaoke.FOOD: This is the 2nd time I was wowed by their quality food. I had the deep fried cod fish sandwich. There were actually two fish on top of each other. The server said she liked that sandwich and I would have to agree. I had waffle fries for the first time. They are interesting eating. The server was good, keeping close watch on our table. KARAOKE: We have been all around Grand Rapids taking in every Karaoke establishment known to us. We’ve been out some 125 times and counting. We see it over and over and over again; Female DJ’s are just not sound people. They don’t recognize distortion, clipping, overload, gain structure or even listen for it-just plug and play LOUD. Loud, however, can be beautiful IF it is clean. I thought the voice coil was going to burn out when my singing buddy hit a certain sustained note. If this were my first time exposure to Karaoke, as Ricky Neslon sings in Garden Party, “I’d rather drive a truck.” Additionally, there is no stage monitor so you can hear yourself. There is no display monitor for the audience to see the words. If there were a 2nd video monitor I would have sung from that position which would have placed me in front of the speakers so I could at least hear what the audience hears. Well, the DJ happened to have the new song I have been practicing this week and I got the chance to do it for the first time-not perfect but still a keeper. At this point we exited. Grandville has restaurants I have frequented for the last 50+ years but I am now going to add The Chicago Pub to that list for lunch.

We stopped by on an early evening on a Saturday so we weren't sure if we would get seated. We found two spots at the bar and were quite comfortable. It's a large place, but well laid out. Both of the beers were tried were great, and we had their appetizer special, pork carnitas nachos for a snack it was quite delicious. They even brought out more beer cheese sauce so we could finish the chips we had left. Our bartender was friendly and did a great job with us. We will definitely be back to try more of their beers. Very impressed!Elizabeth S.,Thank you for your kind words! Saturday mornings can be a bit crazy, so I'm glad you were able to quickly find a seat and enjoy some delicious, locally produced adult beverages! Next time you swing by I recommend you try one of our beer flights. That way you'll be able to try a few more options on our extensive taplist :)Thanks again, and we hope to see you back soon!-DJ

Like I have reviewed before, the food is the same at this Applebees as the others. Went for an early Mother's Day dinner (Mom's choice). Appetizers were good, Spinach Dip and Mozzarella Sticks. Shrimp (two people) was good, chicken strips a bit dry (my son). I had a new burger, the Caprese Mozzarella Burger. Honestly, it did not sit well. It is really, really big, Mine seemed pretty greasy and tasted "different". I figured it was new to me so it would taste different....I won't try it again. The server was great, very attentive. Like I said before, you can't really tell one Applebees from another.

We love the burgers and tater tot appetizer. In the past when we got them to go they hardly stayed warm enough to get them home. However recently they appeared to have upgraded the to go containers they use. Keeps everything warm and we live about seven minutes from the restaurant. I would strongly recommend any of the burgers either at the restaurant or to go. Most of the time the orders are ready in about 15 minutes so if you live any further away than that I would suggest ordering while you’re on the way not from home and then going to pick it up. Keeps the food warmer. The only downside with to go if you feel like you cut in line to go pick up your food since the waiting area overall is quite small. Maybe they could actually have the pick up on the far side of the bar away from the main entrance and that would eliminate some of the congestion. Overall it’s very nice to see them busy which is a sign that they do a very good job.

Visited for dinner in August 2018. Bad start, very long wait to get seated with, no exaggeration here, the majority of the tables empty. Then another long wait until we were greeted by our server. Continued to get worse, another long wait until we got our drink order. I'm the first to provide a little grace here for a busy night and/or getting seated in a section where the server is slammed. Neither was the case the evening we were there.I gave this a 3-Star rating/Average instead of a 2-Star/Poor rating because the food was good. I won't disparage the food, we ordered sandwiches and they were good.I had a cider and a beer, both were ok, neither was great or exceptional. One visit was enough. There are so many other restaurants in the greater Grand Rapids area that I would rather try or go back to then go back to Osgoods.

Always want to go here because it's convenient, but the food has become so uneven that I'm going to give up. My husband's shrimp tacos were fine. My "airline" chicken with green beans and a pumpkin risotto, on the other hand, approached inedible. The chicken (why on earth would you ever reference an airline to anything these days) was overcooked and had some weird whitish thing perched on top. Thought it might be cheese, but it was a chunk of cinnamon-sugar flavored butter. Blech. The green beans were swimming in too much butter--greasy, though cooked properly. The risotto looked like creamed corn (which for a minute I thought it was), was the color of Kraft Mac-n-Cheese, and tasted like glue. Worst risotto I've ever had. The only thing I could eat were the green beans. Nice waitress comped me the meal, but jeez. Get a real chef, will ya? We've had some mostly decent meals here in the past two years or so, but the last three times, it's been pretty bad. Think I'll drive elsewhere from now on.
