We went on a Sunday at noon...there were a few people there but it was not crowded. the menu is limited but interesting. It has a "healthfood" feeling from the 60s. A few salads, paninis, smoothies and mixed fruity drinks. I ordered an avocado mash sandwich and my husband ordered a quinoa salad with chicken. They were both pretty good.Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed the food. We are new, just opened this year in June and are always looking for ways to improve so if you have any suggestions for us, please let us know. We’re glad you stopped in and hope to see you again.

The Viola Cafe

Hand made, from scratch cooking in a comfortable, casual setting that is popular with both native Oakers and the numerous weekenders in Michigan's Harbor Country.

I liked the casual atmosphere and homey food choices. It is not trendy or overpriced at all. A little decor and some bathroom updates would go a long way. But worth a stop for breakfast or lunch in downtown Three Oaks.

We stopped in here for breakfast the day after the ACC cycling event ahead of the drive back to Chicago. The food was tasty and fresh, backed by friendly service. The place was packed, confirmation of its popularity with visitors and locals alike.

In town on a family matter, we lunched at Froehlich’s and very much enjoyed the experience. Historically a bakery, which still exists directly across the street, we ate lunch in what appears to be a retrofitted department store facility, complete with the stamped sheet metal ceiling tiles. This is a very well done remodel, with clean, modern lines and a menu with a wide range of options. I don’t suspect cocktails were served at the original bakery so that’s an addition as well. Members of our group enjoyed shrimp po’ boy and grilled cheese sandwiches, hamburgers and salads. Everything seemed to be very well received. Froehlich’s is easy to find in this small village and it’s close enough to the interstate to drive over for lunch and a change of pace. A stroll down the main drag will put you in a different place. Certainly I’ll remember that option. I only wish I could have justified purchases from the bakery as all their fare was mouthwatering.

Jackie's Cafe

This place was recommended for breakfast and, in particular, the blueberry French toast. My husband and I both ordered this hearty breakfast. It took up most of the plate and included a little strawberry and pineapple as garnish. They use blueberry bread as the base to make the French toast and it was delicious. Also Michigan maple syrup was provided and I would suggest to add just a little of it to your French toast so as to not overwhelm the meal; it really didn’t even need syrup. Our waitress was super friendly, very eager to please, and service was quick and thoughtful. My husband enjoyed coffee and a glass of milk, while I delighted in the tea. The place seems to be a favorite local eatery with families arriving just as we were leaving. Outdoors there were plenty of beautiful hanging baskets. Inside was simple and laid back.

Rosie's

I love local places and this place screams "local establishment". While this place is not fancy, it is very comfortable with great service, good food and reasonable prices. I ducked in here for breakfast after a 2 day bike ride from Chicago. The menu had a lot to choose from but I had my favorite breakfast of poached eggs, bacon, potatoes, and an English muffin. The eggs were done perfectly. There were 4 strips of thick cut bacon and plenty of potatoes. My bill for the breakfast and coffee was under $10.00.

Blue Plate Cafe

We don’t get here often, but it seems like food has improved significantly over the past year with great selections and bigger portions. Maybe I’m wrong, but regardless our last visit was the best yet. Eggs, healthy shakes, pancakes and French toast are all top notch. Coffee is also very good. Great bakery items as well. Friendly staff. Colorful decor and plenty of parking. Has some outdoor seating, but bees can be an issue.

Whistle Stop Restaurant

Reviewed By RDK52

Convenient location right on the Red Arrow Highway in Union Pier. Interesting lunch spot that also brews kombucha, makes smoothies, and a small bakery (along with a few other supplies a visitor might want, like S'more ingredients). Sandwiches (tuna salad & turkey club) were great and served on delicious rolls they made themselves. Not inexpensive, but reasonable considering it's located in a fairly isolated "tourist-trap" area. Very limited seating inside (2) with a nice outdoor garden table area with small canopies over each table. Portion size was generous.
