I guess it depends on what you order. My husband ordered pizza and he said it was good. I ordered the filet mignon and was a bit disappointed. My steak was medium rare as I ordered, but it came with grill marks that bordered on burnt and I think the filets I buy at Sam's Club have better texture and taste. The vegetables were limp and tasteless. I'll try something else if I go back. Our waitress was busy, but took good care of us.

Celebrating a birthday, it's nice to have a place like this with a relaxed atmosphere, good food, reasonable prices, and friendly service. The ravioli is excellent, but salads, sandwiches and other offerings are just as good. My kids like the buffalo wings. They had a burst water line behind the bar, but the barmaids and waitstaff handled it in stride and had a good laugh. We were lucky enough to be at a table so stayed dry the whole time.

Hadn't eaten in this restaurant in a few years. Great breakfast today. I had French toast which was good. Another person had pancakes which he also said was good. Two had quiche which they also rated highly. The star item was the Finnish pancake (which I cannot spell) which was described by two who had as excellent. The view was wonderful. Service was good.

Carside ToGo
We often eat at the Houghton Applebee's when we're Up North. When we want flavor and consistency that is the place to go. The waitstaff is prompt and efficient. My favorite is the Fiesta Lime Chicken or the Fajita Rollup (not sure if that's what it is called). My husband is more adventurous and tries many different things, but he really enjoys the unlimited soup and salad lunch.

Casual
We've stayed at the Country Inn and Suites next door several times, but this was the first time we've had dinner here. We were surprised to see the bowling alley inside. We had had a long day and really didn't take time to explore everything. The restaurant is large and designed to mimic inside a mine shaft. There's a bar area and lots of tvs turned on to different sports channels.A Tuesday night in early May isn't very busy. The area is so large we didn't even realize there was a large group in another section Our service was good. We never felt rushed. Our server was also training a server. We're sure this place is hopping when Tech is in session and Summer tourists or Winter snowmobilers are in town. Our food was very good and hot. My design your burger was perfect. We both tried their special, house fries. They fry slices of baked potato. Definitely a good change from regular fries.Google Map this, if you're going for the first time or find the Country Inn and Suites. It's right next door. Definitely include this in your trip.Thank you for your positive feedback. Our goal here at the MineShaft/RockHouse (MSRH) is to insure that our guests have a great experience. Iâm happy to hear that your experience was nothing less then excellent. Next time youâre in town be sure to stop in and see us! Thank you!

We were visiting the area for Winter Carnival since our daughter is a freshman at Michigan Tech. We came in on Saturday for lunch. The place was only about half full. We ordered sandwiches and waited, and waited..... It took almost an hour to get our order. The food was just okay. I ordered a BLT and it had two pieces of bacon on it. The whole sandwich was less that an inch thick, including the bread. The only thing that was good were the french fries. We will not return.

It's located in the Ramada Inn Waterfront in Hancock, MI.
Ate here several times and the food and service were great. Take a seat by the window and the view is awesome too.

We spent the day on the Keweenauw Peninsula and after driving back from the beauty across "the bridge", we drove back into Houghton looking for a nice cooked meal. We settled on the Ambassador because of the variety of food there. We got the pizza and loved it, sat at a big window looking out over the canal, and just soaked up the energy of this popular hangout - lots of young people (presumably from Michigan Tech) really made the place fun and lively. Our waitress was cute and friendly and made us feel welcome and answered all our questions about how to pronounce the unpronouncable UP names... great place to stop you will not be disappointed!
