El Burrito Mexican Restaurant

This has become one of my husband's fave mexican restaurants. He would eat mexican fare every day if I would agree to it!! You get free chips & salsa, and the meals are really tasty. They have beer/drink specials, too....for a cheap price. The service is excellent, and the place is decorated w/cool decor....lots to look at. We are regulars there.

Whenever I go to Qdoba, I always order the vegetarian burrito. Since I do not like zucchini or yellow squash, the staff is always very nice, and lets me pick the vegetables that I do want. I recently found a new sauce that made this burrito perfect-tomatillo sauce. The rice is very good too.

La Huasteca

I drive by this restaurant twice a day, so I thought I would try it, for a late lunch last Saturday. When you walk in, the place doesn't look too clean, and kind of run down, although to the left of the front door, you see all the proper licenses, and Serve Safe Certifications, so they are in compliance. The restaurant is small. I sat down, and an 11 year old boy, was my Server-I overheard someone ask how old he was. THIS IS NO LIE. I perused the menu, and chose the plate of Chicken, Beef, and Shrimp, with Rice, but no Beans. The food was really good, and the portions are big. I was watching the boy do all kinds of things, from bussing tables, to bringing out beverages, taking orders, bringing out the food, and asking the customers how everything was. I had to control my anger. According to the State of Michigan, the soonest a child can work in a restaurant, is at 15 years old, and that is with a Work Permit. This child should be outside riding his bike, playing with friends, and just being a kid. When I went to pay, I saw one of the workers, who may have been one of the Owners, processing raw meat, without using gloves. This is a red flag when it comes to sanitation. I won't return.

Donkey Taqueria

A former 1920's neighborhood service station finds new life as a full service bar serving truly authentic Mexican food.

I hesitated choosing this place thinking it would not be authentic and typically like another chilis. I was WRONG, this place is great, Nice outdoor seating or standing hi top tables, great bar. To top it off they had a huge selection of Tequila brands to choose from. Tacos were very good and pricing was very inexpensive. They also serve a good Michalada which is basically a bloody mary with beer, spicy, tangy and very good. I will be back to visit the place soon
