upon arriving seating was full around 1145am sunday morning, which is ok. however nobody said hi or smiled despite checking people out at the counter many times next to us while we waited. when table became empty i asked may we sit there or would you like us to wait til someone clears table. he said either or was ok. it appeared that the black haired man was working alone bussing and cking out tables with an elder server lady. we sat down. it took 8 min to get a menu and be greeted by a server who appeared from the back. waited just shy of an hour for the food. my french toast was cold, not warm, and no meat like i ordered came with it. i asked host to heat it up plz since my server was nowhere to be found. my server brought it out for him. no meat still. i asked. he said oh maybe they forgot about it one second. he brought out 1/2 cooked and half burnt links. i was famished and needed to eat. i ate it. when my spouse asked about my meat, i told him it looks raw but burnt, elder lady server over heard me say it and looked at me but didnt offer to help. it turns out about 4-5 were working servers etc. but why is it no one was to be seen much? short a cook in the back perhaps? hostess had to refill drink cuz our server was nowhere again, most the servers stayed in the back it seemed.i cringed at leaving a $5 tip. i cringed at paying for the meal at all. it was mediocre and i felt like a burden to my server. people cleared out so it wasnt full the whole time we were there, just in the beginning. hire staff who might be glad you came in. prices are great, but service shouldnt be this way.

Stopped in for lunch while doing some shopping, it was busy-busy-busy! But service was still quick, and they have lots of enticing options. They have a wide variety of lovely loose tea, and a more extensive menu than what they show online. I had a pesto tuna salad which was surprisingly delicious, full of fresh basil flavor, and crunchy from nuts. I polished it off and was impressed that a bookstore cafe could produce such impressive, fresh food in big portions. Husband loved his huge Cobb salad as well. Great place for a healthy lunch if you're sick of the same old mall chains!

Everything is well prepared and tasty! The lovely variety along with superb specials make it a hard choice of what to order. Wine and beer lists are extensive. Love the Block 9 Pinot Noir. Breakfast, lunch or dinner you can't go wrong.

Welcome to your East Lansing, MI Whole Foods Market! Founded in 1978 in Austin, Texas, Whole Foods Market is the leading retailer of natural and organic foods, the first national "Certified Organic" grocer, and uniquely positioned as America's Healthiest
You get the impression that people working at Whole Foods are competent and professional, and I have the expectation that the food prepared will be very good. But this is just impressions and image. From my experience, their prepared food has been very average; often overcooked and over-seasoned. Seems to be prepared by people with little quality experience in a kitchen (they seem to employ a lot of students here). I was especially disappointed in the pizza my wife brought home recently. The bottom was so overcooked it was hard and black; garbage. This is just evidence of a larger problem with quality assurance and staff supervision. My poor pizza was obviously prepared by someone with little interest in serving high quality food; just push it out there somebody will buy it. Very poor supervision of kitchen help leads to serving customers poor quality products, and bad reviews from disappointed customers. I was not surprised to learn this location is having difficulty competing with other local businesses in the high-end grocery market. At the national level Whole Foods sales are shrinking and their corporate reports suggest customers are finding lower-cost alternatives from competitors. I heard Trader Joe's may be looking at this East Lansing space if Whole Foods closes. I have heard many accolades for Trader Joe's; if we see them here in the future I hope they can meet expectations better that Whole Foods.
