We were in Detroit for a conference, and our Lyft driver was taking us to a restaurant that turned out to be closed (cork and gabel). He asked if we liked middle eastern food, and suggested Al Ameer. It was a bit further away, but we are very glad we listened to him. The hummus, tabouleh, babaganoush, shawarma, chicken, fatoush were excellent. We have spent a lot of time in the middle east, and were thrilled with the food. The service was all it needed to be and the servings were huge (we took a lot back to the hotel). Highly recommend this place... also, the pita is made in a wood-fired oven, and it really makes a difference.
The owners put a whole lotta love in all there foods,, the Kafta meal is a must try spice to perfection juicy and tender it's my favorite. The salads and sandwich's along with hummus can't be beat. The owners husband and wife team cook everything so really great and there so damn friendly too. Not far from i-75 or i-94 on Schafer this place is a must try when heading downriver or west on i-94. YOU GOTTA TRY THE KAFTA ENJOY
