Think you need an ocean for a beach? Think again. There are miles and miles of sandy lakefront beaches in Michigan (thanks to the four Great Lakes that border it). The west coast of Michigan has especially nice beaches—try a rental in Muskegon, Grand Haven or Saugatuck. You won’t need a car when visiting Mackinac Island. In fact, they’re not allowed—this lovely Victorian resort town is pedestrian-only.

The Morris Estate offers luxury accommodations in a breathtaking setting on an historic property in Southwest Michigan. The River House bed and breakfast has beautifully appointed suites, spacious common areas, and a riverside terrace overlooking the St. Joseph River and surrounding forest. Nestled next to the main house are two cabins that can be rented as a private retreat for the perfect peaceful weekend.
The Millstone is simply a unique experience than I have ever had, and it is worth investing in the experience once in a while. We plan on revisiting for special celebrations in our marriage. It is a gem of southwestern Michigan. The actual cabin is great, but the surroundings just make it that much better.

One of three villages that comprise of Shanty Creek Resort, a four-season ski and golf resort straddling Bellaire and Mancelona in Antrim County, Michigan. With two ski areas, four golf courses, and multiple lodging options across 5,000 beautiful acres in northern Michigan.
Just spent a long weekend at the Cedar River Lodge and stayed in room 003. Great location for our young kids who were able to just walk out to the pool. We loved sitting in the hot tub watching the kids play in the heated pool. Skiing was super easy since we could just walk out from the room fully dressed and jump on the purple lift. Room had 2 queen beds which worked great for our family. Gas fireplace was a nice touch and helped to dry our ski gear. Will definitely stay again and will ask for the same room.

Never stayed at a real Bed & Breakfast, so we didn't know what to expect. IT WAS PERFECT! Bill & Barb are amazing hosts. Big front porch with 2 very generous porch swings as well as other comfortable seating. The entrance allows you to feel the warmth. The rooms are upstairs which allowed us to enjoy the setting. The house is filled with amazing photographs - didn't want to miss a one. We stayed in the Mackinac Room in a very comfortable king-size bed with the perfect pillows - I slept through the night for the first time in over 4 weeks. There is a sitting room where we enjoyed coffee and the view! The best part was breakfast!! We sat at the counter in the kitchen, talked and watched as the phenomenal breakfast was being made. Usually I have 2 cups of coffee - I had 4! I realized how comfortable I was and wished we had more time. Can't wait to go back and when we do, it will be for no less than 2 nights. Bill & Barb provide a very warm and relaxing atmosphere. We stood on the back deck, coffee in hand and watched the deer and birds. It's BEAUTIFUL, quiet, and peaceful. Bill & Barb - thank you for true hospitality, good conversation and a truly exceptional breakfast! The taste of your homemade bread still lingers!! You will see us again.

Unplug and enjoy nature with a visit to this historic fishing lodge! Access the North Branch of the beautiful Au Sable river for some quality relaxation and family time. There is a fully serviced fly shop on the property, as well as guided fly-fishing and wingshooting trips and casting lessons. The history of this lodge is astounding, having hosted The Ford family, the Dodge Brothers, Thomas Edison and European Royalty among others. The Douglas House is truly a step back to a simpler time.
My family (husband, child, and I) stayed here for three nights in June 2020. My husband knew about the inn because his grandfather had stayed there long ago, otherwise we never would have found it! This place is really a gem. While some "historic" bed and breakfasts seem cliched or overdone, this really is the real deal. It is like time stopped. Each room is unique and includes lovely historic objects. The shared areas are comfortable and Judy, the host, does everything she can to make guests feel welcome. The river right out front is great for fly fishing and if you walk up river a bit, you can swim. Breakfast was filling and hearty. We could have stayed much longer and will be back! Note: there is no a/c (fine for us) and bathrooms are shared (also were fine).

Set in a redbrick house built in 1870, this upscale adults-only B&B in the historic Brush Park district is a less than a mile from shows at Fox Theatre and 2 miles from the Detroit Institute of Arts. It's a mile from Interstate 75. Airy rooms provide complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and Keurig machines, as well as pull-out beds and en suite bathrooms with handcraft toiletries. Some have free-
We found the best place for us! We grew up just north of Detroit and have lived on the West Side of the state for 40 years. We take the time to do Detroit vacations because it is a wonderful place and there is plenty to do. This time we found the Spirit of Detroit at the Cochrane House Bed and Breakfast in the guise of Rica and Cina. We loved our stay. We could walk to Little Caesar's Arena for a concert one night and a Red Wings game two days later. Walk to Cliff Bells for a night of jazz and awesome food. Walked to the Shelby Speakeasy for a drink and then took the Q line to eat at the Baobab restaurant. In between time to go to the Cranbrook Institute of Science and meet up with friends. A truly wonderful three days and everyone of them started with a great breakfast at the Cochrane House and family conversation with Rica and Cina .

Candlestone Golf Resort embraces the natural beauty and serenity of the surrounding environment overlooking over 170 acres of a neatly manicured 18-hole championship golf course, pristine ponds and the undulating woodlands nestled on the outskirts of Belding, Michigan. Our facility comes complete with a full-service hotel and on-site restaurant for all guest needs.
If you need a hotel in Belding, this may be your only option. On one hand, the rooms are horribly outdated and need a LOT of TLC. On the other hand, the service was friendly, it was very convenient for where we needed to be, and we did sleep well. So we would probably stay there again, but expectations would remain low.

Located in the bustling Hotel District of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, this vibrant retreat is community-oriented and offers dynamic city stays for dogs and dog-lovers. Here, you’ll experience local flavors as you meet new friends.
Stayed in a 2- bedroom suite for a couple of nights and I can't recommend it enough. The suite had two full bathrooms, a full kitchen and washer and dryer. Only being there two nights, we didn't necessarily need all of that but it was very convenient. The suite was very clean, the wi-fi was strong, and there was plenty of hot water for the showers. The Hotel is right downtown, easy walking distance to a ton of restaurants/ breweries/ bars. The hotel has indoor facilities for the dogs, but I never used them because there were plenty of areas within a short walk and the weather was so nice. Didn't need any help from the staff, but everyone was pleasant and professional. Also, with the hotel only taking up the top few floors of the building, it was very quiet even being right downtown (I believe the rest of the building is at least mostly residential. The residents I shared the elevator with were all very nice, of course it helps when you have a cute dog with you. )

The hotel seem pretty new, and was clean. But is not very pretty or nice by any means is just an average hotel good for 1 night and go. We went during the Tulip festival and most pet friendly hotels in Holland where book already, so we choose this one 20 miles away in Grand Rapids. There plenty of food options near by. The staff was friendly, the only reason I don’t give a higher star rating is cause there was a lot of people in the parking lot hanging out drinking and that make me nervous. I need something from my car at 10pm and I look from window and I can see a bunch o people drinking in back of pickup trucks next to my car. As a female thats a no Thank u I pass.

The motel has the "old school" style and look, with nice new rooms, it's clean, with nice landscaping and flowers. As we spend most of our time sight-seeing, we did not need an expensive water-view hotel, just a nice, clean, affordable place to sleep. There is a trail from the motel to the lake where you can see the Mackinaw Bridge and Mackinac Island. We sat on a picnic table and enjoyed a sunrise and a cup of coffee. The rooms only sleep 2, so no kids, just adults staying. We had the pool all to ourselves. We will be back next year!
