Warm authentic German Food

We could not have done better in this warm and authentic restaurant that is part of a hotel. Huge portions and great food. The goulash and potato dumpling were fantastic. Nice place, but in the middle of nowhere
Reviewed By rockintravel77This place is like a time capsule from the 1970s transported to a tiny village in the Odenwald. It looks like a film set - with lots of cute and original touches like the vintage gambling machines in the pool area and the old dial phone in our room. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. Only drawback were the towels which apparently hadn't been washed before and shed sticky red fluff! The owners (probably a family) were very sweet and helpful, especially the elderly lady who served breakfast and allowed us to have a good look around. We could choose the time for breakfast by ourselves, which was fantastic - hardly any five-star place serves a late breakfast at 11! Most of the guests seem to come here for golfing or hiking. For us, the location had its drawbacks - contrary to the address, the hotel is nowhere near the town of Michelstadt and can only be reached by car. Since the village Gasthaus was closed due to a village fair, we ended up taking a taxi to Michelstadt to have dinner, which was very expensive. If you like nature and want a really unique experience, I would recommend it, but only if you have a car.

The apartment is immaculate, super clean, with all modern fixtures and appliances. Roswitha, the host is so lovely. A beautiful touch with a bottle of wine and grapes on arrival. Thank you.

Der erste Eindruck
Reviewed By elbenberg1999Von außen macht das Hotel einen sehr guten Eindruck es gibt kostenlose Parkplätze und die Lage ist ansprechend. Die Ernüchterung findet dann aber auch sehr schnell im Zimmer statt, es erwartet den Gast einen doch in die Jahre gekommen Ausstattung, das Badezimmer ist recht klein und hinterlässt Schwierigkeiten bei der morgendlichen Toilette. Die Fenster sind meines achtens nach einfach verglast. Überrascht hat mich die Matratze Gegensatz zum Aussehen hat das Bett mir eine angenehme Nacht Ruhe beschert. Es gibt keine Möglichkeit im Ort was zu essen, also gibt nur die Möglichkeit in Umkreis von 10-18 km zu fahren um irgendetwas zu sich zunehmen. Die Zimmer haben einen Balkonen und das wäre für mich jetzt eine positive Aussage, der im Zimmer befinden Fernseher ist eher ein etwas größer geraten Monitor, die Programme sind nicht geordnet. Es gibt kostenlosen WLAN aber in meinem Fall war der eher nicht stabil, um in Ruhe beruflich was zu erledigen ist der Tisch ungeeignet. Frühstück: überraschend gut, frische Brötchen und große Auswahl, leider ist der Raum unglaublich kalt, und hiermit ist ein gemütlich frühstücken doch recht schwierig. Resümee: Es handelt sich um eine recht günstige Übernachtung, persönlich würde ich lieber zehn Euro mehr zahlen um dann ein angenehmes Ambiente zu haben. Von fünf Sterne gebe ich zwei.

Think Fawlty Towers but much much worse
Reviewed By Q5174ZJcatherinebIt’s supposed to be a 1970s throwback experience but in reality is a dumping ground for 1970s kitsch with no sense of design. Behind the veneer is a dilapidated building with some seriously dodgy looking wiring. Currently family run by a family with no understanding of hospitality whose priority is their small children. Inadequately staffed. No food in the evening and lucky if anyone available at the bar. On our day of departure we were left waiting by the mother whose priority was to take the kids to school and the only way we could get her feckless husband to check us out was by relentlessly ringing the hand bell on reception after half an hour of waiting which finally got the lazy oaf out of bed at 9.15am. One small bottle of body wash provided on arrival, not replenished in 4 days, swimming pool closed. No good restaurants in the village so had to drive every evening to Michelstadt to eat. Amazed if they aren’t out of business in 6 months.
