We visited Mersing twice this year, and we like the small, but vibrant town. Earlier this year we dined at Lok Tien Yuen. It was a bit more intimidating of an experience, had to reserve the food in advance etc. Mersing Seafood Reataurant was more casual and easygoing.
We had:
- drunken prawn: delicious! soup was quite bitter, but worked well with the succulent critters. Only regret we ordered small instead of medium.
- salted egg yolk squid: not what we expected. Quite original and beautifully presented but a bit dry in texture and flavor.
- braised tofu: nice, albeit bland
- seafood fried rice: maybe the wok was tired that evening. Didn't have that great, greasy, flavorful pop.
- steamed fish, Cantonese style: again, good, but a bit bland.
Overall experience: good, but not too memorable.

This is a nice restaurant, it may not be as famous as Mersing Seafood (expensive) or Loke Tien Yuen (>100 years). But the food here is definitely on par with those few in good ones in Mersing. I like to recommend their Steam Fish (Teochew Style) and Chef Recommend Pork Rib... the rib is more tender than those in Tony Roma. I have a small family, can't eat much, you probably want to try their Big Prawn or Salted Egg Crab, I saw the next table ordering them, ... looks yummy. The price wise is affordable, at least they don't 'chop' you (rip you off) because your are a tourist. Anyway, you can ask the price first before ordering. Enjoy

On an island, you have minimal choices for food. However, this restaurant definitely did the job.
I got the chef special fried rice was was GREAT. But the rest of my group had less than stellar reviews.
Definitely mid range but still cheap. I enjoyed that the owner had cute kids running about, and the bat houses built into the restaurant were decorative as well as functional. This was one of the few places without a ton of mosquitos on Juara beach.
I'd probably come back during high season if they had a band, but this place was great in terms of atmosphere more so than the food.

Nice place to have a quick bite when in Mersing. Almost directly facing the ferry jetty.. good local food for the travellers at reasonable price. Clean and fresh. More of a modern setting.

If you like simple home cook food, come to this restaurant. Their Steam Fish is very simple, but very tasty, likely not much MSG added. The Sweet & Sour Pork is cook in way my Grandmom and mother will cook, very different from others. One important thing, if you want to try it out, pls call and book in advance.

The place is beside the road. Setting was nice. The food was just nice. We ordered 'ikan bakar', fried squid, & fried egg. I like the 'ikan bakar' & tom-yum. But the tom-yum inside coconut is not available.
In overall it was a nice early dinner for us.
Pro's: Fast Service
Con's: Not so friendly waiter.

The place is clean and well maintained, so that we felt welcomed! They have both Western and Malay food, so its a great mix. The pasta tasted really fresh, but the chicken had a strange taste of old meat. All in all we recommend this coffee, also for breakfast!

Most restaurants in mersing dont open u til 8-8:30 pm but we were hungry so had to take a chance on an unknown venue.
Firstly although the menu is in Chinese and English and the friendly waitress appeared to the understand us . She didn't.
This came clear when only 3 meals were served between 4 of us. When we questioned the 4th meal this seemed to surprise the waitress.
The 4th meal eventually arrived but was totally different to our order . We were hungry so kept it and ate it.
2 of us chose crab which did look very cheap. What we were served was 2 bodyless crabs . With almost no meat to be found and no tools to extract it . We had to make do with tooth picks!
To finish it off we found a bit of wire from a cleaning pad in the rice.
So on balance we should have waited. Not our lucky night.

This is quite a large restaurant that is open all day. You get to choose what you like from the different trays - quite a few vegetarian options. Nothing special, but Decent food and good value.

Excellent coffee and food was OK too. The staff were nice and the inside seats were comfortable. I would definitely use it again if I ever go back to Mersing.
