We enjoyed this restaurant with a group of friends and all had a different menu. All very good. It's a small place, very cosey and a lot of locals visiting. Excellent value for money. No winelist, just one merlot for red wine.

These take-away meals are fantastic and huge - Tip: make sure you order by phone hours or day before you pickup.
When I called with an enquiry they suggested I order over the phone so it would be ready at arranged time which thankfully I did for 6pm the next day. There was a very long queue of people waiting and ordering - must be a very popular place. I was served immediately when I went to the Cash Register which is on the other side of where people wait for or place orders. Our order was ready indeed at precisely the moment I walked in at 6pm so all I had to do is pay and be gone.
There is a great and large mix of Chinese and Indonesian dishes to choose from.
The Indonesian Rice Table we ordered for 2 people was fantastic and had 15 dishes for Euro 27 (A$31 in August 2012). Although it is called a rice table, we were offered a choice of 2 x rice or 2 x bami gorang (special noodles) or one of each. It came inclusive of 4 pieces of kroepoek (like shrimp crackers but the size of a foot long each), very tender meats and pork dishes, sweet & sour kraut, green beans and stew with ginger, etc. etc and to top it all off it also came with 4 x banana fritters... - we couldn't believe our eyes when we unpacked box after box :)
If you don't want take-away than still go there - the restaurant looks absolutely cosy and clean and I am sure the taste of the food will be just as good if not better (if that is possible) because it is served straight from the kitchen instead of after half hour drive - as in our case.
Note: You may need to allow plenty of time for it to be served if dining in if it is always busy and make sure you make a reservation beforehand in any case.

During a visit to Meppel in The Netherlands we had the opportunity to enjoy a delicious feast of tasty food at the Royal China Restaurant. All my life I have enjoyed Chinese food having been raised & growing up in Papua New Guinea where there are many Chinese restaurants. Plus I had the most amazing Mother who after living in China in her younger years she learnt the art of cooking this fabulous food. So she often cooked & served Chinese banquets for the family. The food at the Royal China Restaurant was fantastic, very well presented & brought back many memories of Mother's cooking. Many Chinese restaurants I have visited in Australia are just plain & boring full of onions or the cheapest ingredients that are on special at that time sadly. Also had the pleasure of eating in Hong Kong for a couple of weeks a few years ago which again is so different food to Australian Chinese served food. But The Royal China went beyond all my expectations with friendly 5 star service; the venue Seating very nice, the entire mood of the establishment the staff, the best plates & cutlery; all first class as was all the dishes we selected. Simply amazing & one of the Best Chinese restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of eating at in 67 years! Apart from my Mother's meals of course! Thank you Jian Wang for making our night so wonderful and Special. Hope to visit one day again real soon. A very memorable night with very Special Friends David & Jeanette - thank you guys for taking us there - a fantastic feast of culinary delights!

Celebrating the end of the holiday we returned to our favorite place in town, this time to order beyond the usual excellent pizza. The Sardinia crew surprised us with a fantastic antipasto carne selection, rich in taste; followed by incredibly well-prepared main dishes. The veal (we ordered 'filetto masala', 'filetto gorgonzola' and 'fettine in umido') was soft and tender - exactly prepared as we requested (rare to medium rare, and medium rare) - and tasted excellent. The additional garlic-flavored spaghetti, the fresh salad and delicious potatoes topped it off. The 'semifreddo al pistachio' and final Sambuca sealed another perfect dinner. Staff friendly, price OK - when in Meppel, eat at Restorante Sardinia. We will!

Lovely restaurant located in a traditional village. Updated, well-prepared dishes made with regional and organic produce.
We went here for an evening meal. It is a nice modern restaurant in an characterful old building where friendly staff serve an excellent dinner, with some nice surprising tasty menu-items.
The restaurant has a good atmosphere and is certainly not expensive for the quality of food that is being served, 103 euro for a dinner for 2, including cocktails at the start and wine during the dinner.
We will certainly go again.

A fixed price and then eat all you can. Soft drinks included. For alcoholic beverages you will get 2 coins. If you want more alcohol, you need to pay extra. The food is prepared like in Asia. The taste is great. A very large variety of dishes. Special dishes for children. On the first floor, children can play while parents finish their meal.

We went here for lunch after a local recommendation. It's a great cafe and the food and service were excellent. I had a great chicken salad and my friend had goats cheese salad. Very happy with our choices.

What can I say about this good brown cafe/restaurant in centre of Meppel: friendly service, food was quickly on the table (salad with salmon and sandwitch with warm ham and honey sauce), even the latte machiatto was served (as it should be) with three layers. Only the menu-book is a bit weird with all the ads in it. Recommended place!

Nice place to be, although the tapas can use a little bit more surprises and creatvity. This place is great when you can sit at the bar - just order your tapas and drinks and have fun! (Espercially for lazy people!;-)
