Visited during a bike trip with friends, so we were quite hungry. Found this awesome place with traditional decor (lots of old stuff hanging on the walls and ceiling) and we had a hearty meal. The lady host was very welcoming and we left the place with a big smile. Look no further for a great dinner in this charming village. No credit cards.

This restaurant is in the main square and there are tables outside in the sun. The food is typically Czech with various salads for those who are looking for a light lunch. A nice spot for people watching, whether you are eating or just having a drink.

It is very well located, at the foot of the Kokorin castle, were you can drink a beer or eat something. We tried a dessert that was very good, I don`t know the name because they don`t have an english menu. I visited the castle on a Saturday and the staff of the restaurant was overwhelmed with people. They put extra charge on the bill, because they confused the tables, but overall it was ok. The location is everything here.

For the most delicious classic Czech cuisine, take an excursion out of Prague to this incredible gem of a restaurant. Think of the most delicious versions of venison pate, wild boar stew, roasted duck with cabbage and dumplings and seasonal strudels you can find in the most charming of settings. Chef Vaclav Fric pours love into every bite and the special touches of house made breads, homegrown herbs and free flowing local beers, spirits and liqueurs are pure joy.

We had lunch at this restaurant, it was quite busy and we thought it was a good sign. Food was average, dumplings with svickova were not great. Panenka with mushroom sauce was only ok as well, the meat was overcooked. It was the coffee what we enjoyed the most. The service was ok, the waitress was nice.

This place is very quaint with old nicknacks, bikes etc hanging from ceilings. They've tried hard. We really felt we'd discovered something good and were impressed with the comments in guide books etc. However we felt slightly taken advantage. The place is clearly aimed at tourists and is over-priced both for food and drink. For the price, I didn't think the food was that great. Next time we ate in a chinese restaurant in the main street (upstairs in office-type building). Decor was awful (authentic Chinese really) but the food was actually very good and reasonably priced. Never thought I'd eat chinese in Czech. On reflection I'd say Melnik is an expensive tourist town so don't expect value for money here. Would not return to Melnik in fact. If you're looking for a day trip from Prague look elsewhere - further downriver, Litomerice is more understated, friendlier and more authentically rural Czech.

All drinks and snack are served on very special mechanism - a mobile serve plate which moves through three stairs of caffee up and down exactly next to your table. Gallery and caffee "Ve Vezi" can offer to you a children's playground, great view from the top of a tower, new Exhibitions every two months, remarkable vernisages and attendant programes as a workshops, lectures or Concerts.
WOW! The place is fabulous! Grat idea to built it inside a medieval gate tower. The offe and sweet stuff is just lovely. And what I loved the most is the little basket lift they use to serve you coffe or food - not to run the steep steps all the time :)

We found this place by luck after walking around the town centre. Nice relaxed courtyard setting. The food was very good and served quickly. The young waitress, although more concerned with her young husband, was actually very friendly and helpful when we spoke to her. Overall,a very nice experience.
